Youthanasia

In 1994, Megadeth were all conquering. Their line-up was solidified, Countdown to Extinction had been a big hit, churning out hit singles, and going double platinum. This, the follow up, was going take them to the next level, right? It was going to turn them from stars in superstars - their 'Black' album, if you will.It didn't quite happen. There are reasons for this. I think that it was chiefly because in 1994 everyone was obsessed with the 'Seattle scene,' and hard rock just wasn't cool anymore. It's a shame, because this album has some fine songwriting and musicianship. Also, this was the first time I realised Dave could really sing! I played this album so much in 94/95. I wasn't that fussed about grunge, so this was a breath of fresh air for me. My favourite song by far was Elysian Fields, but Blood of Heroes, Addicted to Chaos and A Tout Le Monde also got played an awful lot. There's nothing quite as strong as Symphony of Destruction (the song that made me a 'Deth fan) but melodic Megadeth is not a bad thing.

Okay I love Countdown to Extinction, but my all time favorite album from Megadeth has always been Youthanasia. I like the band because they are the thrash band that has been trying hard to become not only heavy but melodic as well. One of the Big 4 but getting quite close to traditional heavy metal.I like the messages of the songs as well. I suppose Dave is in charge of the lyrics and he is very good. That is something I would say because being a great lyricist and an excellent guitarist are not that easy to become. Furthermore he is really good at choosing the best bandmates. Marty, Nick and Junior are all excellent.It is just very tragic that because of Nick's untimely death it is quite difficult to say anything else here. R.I.P.If you should not have a copy of this excellent album, get one and listen to it as loud as you can.

Great hooks, riffs, and top shredding guitar solos. Mustaine's vocals really stand out on this record. There is more groove to this record than some other Megadeth stuff e.g. Train of Consequences is surprisingly 'catchy' - but don't worry; this is definitely a cheese-free zone. This is a killer record that gets me pumped.

Cd acquistato il 4 gennaio, ricevuto il 17 febbraio (con notevole anticipo rispetto alla data indicata). Prezzo ottimo (3,37€ più spese di spedizione), venditore (worldofbooksit) come sempre affidabile e cortese. Il cd è usato, le condizioni della custodia sono accettabili. Per quanto riguarda la musica, buon disco (non certo il migliore, quelli antecedenti sono i veri capolavori della band americana), ma contiene alcune buone canzoni. Ho ricevuto la versione "Remied & Remastered", con alcune tracce extra. Se non conoscete la band, iniziate da "Rust in Peace" e "Countdown to Extinction". Consigliato ai completisti. Il booklet contiene i testi. Stay Metal.

Un complesso musicale di tutto rispetto, un album minore comunque da tenere con qualche chicca al suo interno. Proposto in versione cd-rom con a corredo un libricino con notizie, testi e foto: piacevole anche il disegno sul disco. Preso ad un prezzo molto vantaggioso.

Magari non è al livello dei migliori e più blasonati album storici dei Megadeth, ma fa la sua parte con canzone orecchiabili e più accessibili.Youthanasia non è il thrash classico dei Megadeth, ma le canzoni sono molto godibili e comunque di alto livello, soprattutto la mitica "A tout le monde". La demo di "New World Order" è molto interessante, poichè mi viene da dire che è l'unica canzone thrash di quest'album, davvero un pezzo da ascoltare.Consiglio agli amanti del Metal in generale di ascoltarlo, lo consiglio anche a quelli che magari non sono amanti della musica veloce e martellante tipica del thrash.

Este disco no está solo re-masterizado como es lo habitual. Es una nueva mezcla TOTALMENTE diferente a la original. Es como escuchar otro disco. A pesar de que en cuanto a sonido está más actualizado y mejor definido, se pierde un poco la garra metalera del original. Llega a sonar hasta un poco pop

Per me è uno dei migliori lavori dei Megadeth, sebbene si discosti dal loro genere trash. Contiene tracce come "addicted to chaos", "family tree" e "blood of heroes" che meritano davvero, oltre alla possibilità di ascoltare alcune versioni demo. Non può mancare nella libreria musicale. Consuglio l'acquisto!

Cuando ves un disco del nivel de Youthanasia a un precio de 5 euros y encima la version remasterizada, pues lo único que puedes hacer es comprarlo. Ojalá se encontraran mas clasicos de este tipo a este precio.

Vielleicht nicht Megadeths bestes Album, aber für einen knappen 5er macht man da nix verkehrt als Metallist.Mustaines Gitarenarbeit ist eigentlich immer hörenswert!

Disco della maturità, piuttosto doom.i pezzi assumono spesso la forma di canzone, buoni gli assoli e il cantato, molto americano a metà tra il power e il trash, proprio per l'epicita' di alcuni componimenti. Il migliore dei Megadeth per i miei gusti.

Reedición en 1 solo cd con temas extras de este trabajo de megadeth. Trae un libreto con letras y fotos. Sonido bastante bueno.

Il disco prosegue sulle orme del suo predecessore "Countdown to extinction"...quindi con sonorità meno aggressive rispetto ai primi lavori e con canzoni "meno intricate" e più "cantabili"...detto questo il disco rimane comunque ottimo. Consigliato

A l'époque j'étais passée à côté de cet album, subjugée par countdown for extinction. Ce disque contient des solos merveilleux, technique implacable comme à l'accoutumée avec ce désormais super-groupe. Le "hit" "à tout le monde" (les auditrices et auditeurs français apprécieront) est sur ce disque (beau solo, mais pas mon titre préféré).

perso j'ai découvert cet album par un pote d'école, sur support cassette, je n'avais jamais pris le temps d'acheter le cd.cet album est le seul que j'écoute de Megadeth, du coup j'ai profité du pris pour l'acheter, je l'ai reçu rapidement.j'adore cet album, et dire que je l'ai entendu la première fois au lycée en 1998. sacré retour en arrière

Ou quand Mustaine fait du Black Sabbath, ou du "black" de Metallica. J'entends par là : très grosse production, rythmique plus lente, plus plombée qu'à l'accoutumée, mais attention : ce que l'album perd en vitesse, il le gagne en mélodies qui tuent ("à tout le monde", repris avec une chanteuse de hard sur "United Abomination qq années plus tard, "reckoning", "Addicted to chaos", …). Bref dans une suite logique du grandissimo précédent opus "Countdown to extinction", Megadeth livre ien 1994 un excellent album de Heavy Metal. 18/20.

Gefällt mir wirklich, erinnert tatsächlich an Metallica, kommt aber an diese nicht ganz ran, aber sonst ist es wirklich gut hörbar.
