"The Pool Cleaner" Nuff said
I start this review having to talk about the previous cleaner I had and that was the "Great White" cleaner, I moved around and pulsed and had scrubbers on the bottom....but when it did a turn, it always did a 360 degree turn and go back in the dame direction which was maddening if it got stuck at the base of the pull and couldn't climb it. Well after 6 rebuilds I let it go and decided to get a new one. I researched and looked around and then upon a review done by a lady who just happen to get a pool cleaner named "The Pool Cleaner". I read all about it and it was a little less expensive than what I was going to shell out and there were options to this new cleaner.....two different colors and two or four wheel drive.Anyway, I bought the two wheel drive, I have a 22000 gal in-ground pool that I had just refurbished with new Gem brite etc. It comes with 10 hose sections and I used them all as well as a water pressure regulator, which I didn't use, I use the skimmer to vacuum valve at the pump. Well you set the pressure at the valve and you look at the right drive wheel of the cleaner in the pool and you count the number of revolutions in a minute to determine if you have the proper pressure for the cleaner to work at its best. Once that is done she is free to go......this cleaner takes off and has a very unique pattern of going a distance then maybe doing a 270 degree turn, going some more and maybe doing another 270 and Hayward Poolvergnuegen 896584000-518 The Pool Cleaner Automatic Suction Pool Vacuum, 2-Wheel, Gray so on a so forth, very random, cleaned the whole pool, never gets stuck. I did take the two float connections off the vacuum hose though because I did not need mine climbing the walls of the pool, I want it to stay on the bottom, I brush the sides of the pool myself.......but all in all, best pool vac I've personally bought.

Amazing, Simple, and Effective!
This thing changed my summer. I came from a Zodiac MX6 that was constantly getting stuck on AZ tree debris. I'd have to help it get unclogged every couple days. I also tried a Zodiac barracuda and it would get stuck in a corner every time. This thing is amazing. It cleans everything and handles the AZ debris like a champ. Never gets stuck and has literally saved hours of manual time cleaning the pool. Very easy to tune.Highly recommended. I wish all pool products were this good.

Great pool Vac, works on fiberglass pool
I researched for the perfect pool vacuum for months and finally decided on this one. It works great. It says different wheels are needed for fiberglass pools, but mine is fiberglass and it works fine. The more I have let it run and the cleaner it gets, it has actually started to climb the walls a bit. I leave it in my 14x35ft freeform fiberglass pool for several hours and it is spotless. My body has been thanking me every day for less manual cleaning of the pool.

Good for the Price
I have a 15x30 pool with a 6 foot deep end. I had one of those plug in vacuums that worked ok, but it eventually broke. This one I plugged into the skimmer and it works great. In a day, it cleaned the pool quite well. The hose is just not long enough by about 6 feet so I have been moving it to the other skimmer every other day. Works pretty good overall. No need to untangle the hose or anything. It does not climb the wall, and it dose not do the stairs well, but I can brush those off no problem.

Gets stuck on the ridges
I have a sports pool and two drop off points. The vaccum would constantly get stuck on the ridges and spin. When it picked up it did a good job. But the time it would take to vaccuum the entire pool while running the filter would not be cost effective. Save up for a robot that does not use your filter

Hideously ineffective
Horrible performance. The Hayward Poolvergnuegen should not be marketed; it is very slow. It does not climb whatsoever. The small intake gets clogged easily. Negative review. Do not recommend this product and strongly discourage even thinking about purchasing it.Update: Wanted to provide environment details for reference;- Approx. 33k gal. in ground pool-- Approx 3ft shallow end, 8.5 ft deep end- AO Smith 1HP pump, two years new

Great lil robot
Great buy, keeps my manual cleaning easier. Robot does a very good job at cleaning the whole floor. Jumps off of wall about halfway.

Not for Low flow/ variable speed pumps
The reviews are awesome and the price dropped to all time low, so what do I have to loose. It sets up easily and the instructions are very specific about the wheel RPM being between 11-14 and even how to count. The included different size throats are nice my problem and the reason for the low score is it just will not work well and climb the walls with a low flow pump.I have a Pentair intelliflow which I use to run my kreepy crawly at 1500 rpm which used 250 watts per hour. This provides an approximate 20 gpm suction at the end of the hose. I tried different throat sizes, I always keep my skimmer turned off, and I even turned off all suction to my main drain and I still couldn't get this to run well/ climb the walls until I increased the RPM on the pump to 2500 or so. This increased my watts to over 1000. At this rate it worked well and climbed the walls but it defeated the purpose of having a low flow pump and the energy savings.I want a cleaner I can leave in my pool and will work with my pump set on low speed unfortunately this cleaner isn't designed for that. If you have a low flow pump and intend to run this cleaner at a low setting you are better off looking elsewhere.
