Igneous Petrology

Clear guide to Igneous Petrology. I used this for my graduate Petrology course and will continue to refer to it for my graduate research. If you are an advanced undergraduate student interested in Igneous Petrology, I would recommend having this on hand as well, even if the topics are more advanced. I found it very helpful, particularly for understanding trace elements.

Needed the book for grad school. Great book with lots of info. Have other books like it and it helped add to the other books contents.

A good general primer on igneous processes. It covers aspects from magma generation to differentiation and isotopic constraints on the magmatic products.

火成岩の基礎がたっぷりと学べます。私がこの本を手にとったのは、大学の講義で相平衡図を扱うものがあったためですが、日本語教科書では、相平衡図の詳細な解説があるものはあまり多くはないです。この本では2成分、3成分、4成分と順を追って解説し、その後実際の鉱物での例を挙げて更に解説してくれます。英語も平易で読みやすいです。さらに、岩石の記載的な特徴はイラストや図を多用してビジュアルでわかるように工夫がされており、地球上の様々な火成岩についてひと通りの解説は収録されています。地球惑星科学、地質学、火山学などを学ぶなら是非もっておきたい1冊だと思います。
