Fantastic book! A must read for any parent.
I had the opportunity to get an advance copy of this book over summer and it turned out to be such a great read - as good as Amy's first book 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do.This book is a must read for any parent that wants to bring out the best in their kids. I read this book over summer and worked on the chapters with our 16 year old daughter. She got so involved in it that she read the book as well. While the book is meant for parents, I would recommend that teenagers read it as well. The book is full of real life case studies and very relevant examples. After reading the book through summer, I've noticed such an improvement with our daughter in just a few weeks. She spent over 100 hours volunteering through summer and the school year is going very well. The book provides plenty of tips and examples that can be easily applied. My daughter could easily relate to the examples provided in the book. The book also exposed some of my parenting limitations and help me become a better parent as well.I liked the book so much that I ordered extra copies to give friends and family - especially since there was a great pre-order special on the book.

Exceptional. About more than just parenting
This book will serve you, you as a parent, grandparents and people and children you know. His is more than a parenting book. It’s a life book. A relationship book. A success book.

Might hit close to home
My favorite part of the book is that all the negative behaviors from children stem from poor parenting techniques, even if the technique was initiated with the best intent (which they usually are). I love how the author provides anecdotes to drive the point home. Parents are like "we've tried everything, but little Johnny is just xxx". After some analyzing, it turns out this isn't Johnny's doing, but something the parents are doing. Might be difficult for many people to accept they are responsible for the poor behavior or lack of emotional maturity exhibited by thier children. Most people want to blame the school, the in-laws, or even the child them self. Couldn't possibly be me or my parenting, right?

and tools to help parents raise happy and successful children
Amy Morin does a fabulous job of giving strategies, exercises, and tools to help parents raise happy and successful children. Her writing style is engaging and I can easily relate to her examples. The knowledge presented is so relevant to our era of parenting. Some of it makes me laugh, because I am absolutely guilty of doing the things that I should not do. The best part about this book is that it gives me awareness of my mistakes and then outlines a clear path to get me back on track.

Don’t tell your kids what to do, show them by NOT doing these 13 things
A well written guide to many of the ways parents (myself included) can affect the mental habits and success of their children. Through practical examples, principle-driven advice, and tiered strategies from toddler through teenage years, this book guides parents to better results by ensuring they know what not to do along the way.

Every parent should read this book - all cultures..
It is a great book for parents to read - kids from pre school to young adults are guided for. It is neither pro kids nor pro parents - truly balanced.I am a grand mom yet I learnt a lot on my ‘over lenient’ approach to grandkids
