Forney 57070 Lens Replacement Gold Welding Filter, 4-1/2-Inch-by-5-1/4-Inch, Shade-9

Excellent arc/overall coloring (gold/yellow) under the hood, and the entire part is illuminated well, also. I use it for DC TIG, and the lighter lens (Shade #9) works very well from 50 amps on down, which is perfect for the sheet metal/small machined parts I weld on. Occssionally I will use more than 50 amps, up to 125, which is bright but still perfectly weldable. Durability is the same as any other normal glass lens - I lengthen the life of my lenses by putting a layer or two of scotch tape around the edges, which stops edge cracks from welding. My first lens lasted about 6 months of normal wear, tear, & dropping (I don't use a clear cover lens over it, as I used it strictly for TIG - no spatter). Just bought two more replacements. Highly recommend.

This is a great quality lens and works well for low amperage TIG welding. I don't know if the gold makes it work any better but it looks cool.

The shade #9 lens is excellent for low to medium amperage welding (50 - 140 amps). Unlike traditional lenses where the arc and puddle is a green color, this gold lens produces a yellow to orange color arc and puddle which is more relaxing for my eyes and can I weld longer. I've used this lens in multiple welding processes such as SMAW (stick welding), GMAW, TIG, and FCAW. I wouldn't recommend using this lens on high amperage welding (170 amps or greater) buy yourself darker lens.
