Perfect heat therapy after breaking my finger
I broke the little finger on my right hand just below the knuckle about three months ago. I had a partial cast on for four weeks, after which the pinkie and ring finger were incredibly stiff (it's amazing how just a few weeks of immobility can cause your muscles to tighten up).I participated in hand therapy for 12 sessions. The most useful part of this therapy was heat treatment with stretching exercises. To heat the hand, they used a cool machine which bathes your hand in a whirlwind of hot shredded corn husks. After 15 minutes of heating, the hand is much looser and ready to stretch. The corn husk machine costs thousands of dollars, unfortunately. Other alternatives suggested included hot water (wash lots of dishes), paraffin dip, old socks filled with rice and heated in the microwave (helpful!), and long hot showers.I decided to try this moist heat pad after reading the reviews-- it sounded like just what I needed. It works great! It's cleaner than the corn husk machine, handy enough to keep at my desk (so I don't forget to loosen up) and has done wonders to loosen up my stiff fingers. There's plenty of room in the muff-shaped hot pad to stretch the hand in either open or closed fist positions. I use it to warm up the fingers first, then close the fist and stretch them out.Using the pad helped me complete my hand therapy more quickly, and gives me a convenient way to continue working on the finger muscles for the next few months to maximize my range of motion. Great product!

Temperature Control Issue
I returned this heating pad because I was very unhappy with its performance. However, I would like to say upfront that MedexSupply was a pleasure to deal with - they were efficient and very helpful in dealing with my concerrns. First of all, this is not a muff - it is a flat heating pad with velcro straps that can be used to wrap the pad around hands (or whatever). I see that it is now described on Amazon as a pad, but I believe it was described as a muff when I made the purchase. Although I was surprised it was not a hand muff per se, that was a fairly minor matter to me. The reason I returned this heating pad is that there is no temperature setting on the control - the options are On, Pause and Off! The pad gets very hot quickly - the accompanying booklet says it will do this, so that was not unexpected. Once it is hot enough (and it rapidly gets quite hot), you have to take your hand out of the muff you've made with the pad and push the pause button on the control. Then, once it has cooled down too much, you have to again take a hand out to push the button to restart the heating cycle. The constant need to manually adjust the temperature made the experience frantic rather than soothing. MedexSupply did refund the purchase price of $45.87, but they did not cover the $8.75 I had paid for shipping (again, a minor issue, but....).

The best for arthritis hands!
My Grandmother has alot of problems with her hands. I checked on the arthritis foundation website and they suggested a moist heat. I found this heating pad and I read that is has helped out alot of people so I ordered it for her. She says that this saved her life. She uses it every morning and every evening and now can use her hands again. She says its the best gift she has ever gotten. I also recommended this to a friends mother who was having problems and about a month later she sent me a thank you note for suggesting it to her daughter, she says it has made such an improvement with her pain. I guess is really matters what kind of heat you use and this one is perfect! Works like a dream!

Pain Relief for Fybromyalgia and/or Arthritis
My wife suffers from fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. Fibromyalgia attacks in the hand and forearm area can only be relieved by application of heat and/or taking extra-strong pain medication. The pain relief of choice is heat application due to lingering side effects of pain medication, however the application of heat using a standard heating pad is difficult due to the requirement of molding the pad to fit the contours of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and upper arm for extended periods of relief. The 'Thermophore MaxHEATTM Muff works like a charm.

Moist heat - with no water added
Had my doubts about the advertised claim of moist heat without having to insert a wet cloth or otherwise add water, but it truly works! Velcro straps allow you to make it into a roll or a "muff" as they call it, into which you can insert hands / arms into both sides. Has a certain feel of quality and sturdiness not common to the less expensive ones on most store shelves. Made in USA. Only fault I find is the circulating lights on the control are invisible to my blind mother, and the control, though not complicated, is less instinctive than it could be for the visually impaired.

Arthritic hands
This is my second muff from thermophore . I use it nightly for severe arthritis of my hands, it works very well to treat my aching fingers and usually awake pain free to start my day as a nurse. The downside of the product when I contacted the manufacture for warranty possibility when it abruptly failed I had to leave a message and to date have not received a response. Amazon prime is amazing I had my new muff in 3 days which has a different type timer! Pricing too was a much better than factory direct.

Overpriced low-tech
This is not a cuff--it is nothing more a cheap, drugstore-variety heating pad with a cheap, Velcro-ed foam pad to wrap it in. The switch is in no way automatic. You must manually control both the intensity and the duration--just like your grandmother's $3 heating pad. Only difference is that this one is stiffer and less useful for applying heat to a specific location.

Its awesome.
This heating pad gets hotter than the sun. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and when I need some hot heat, this is the ticket, except I can only take it for so long before it starts burning my skin. Im not joking, it will literally get hotter and hotter until it would burn your skin. Its awesome.
