Good Choice
Perfect for allowing access to your home to others without giving out keys (like a trusted neighbor or family member). You can have multiple combinations to give to different people, and can add and delete combinations at any time (perfect for one-time access). I live alone, and got it so I could have emergency response people enter my home if I couldn't get to the front door myself (tell them the code when you call 9-1-1). It also was easy to install, no need for a locksmith, took me about 10-15 minutes, and it's not unattractive.

100% Perfect Now (after 95% the first month)
[Updated because the early issues are completely gone] This purchase was an exact duplicate of the Schlage model & finish that I had to discard after 10 years of use. I expected more than 10 years, but really can't complain. This replacement works exactly the same, which is a good thing. During the first month only, this new unit occasionally failed to open the lock until the second try. All but one of those failures was for locking on the way out; just one time unlocking on the way in. After that first 30 days, everything has worked perfectly. I didn't call Schlage customer service because the need wasn't severe and because the issue was both infrequent and fixable on retry. Using the key instead of buttons always worked, so I was never really locked out. No big worries, so four stars initially - five stars now. My identical previous front door lock did not have this problem. Well, at least not until it died. But by that point even the key didn't work. I wish it had lasted longer than ten years. But I obviously like this model because I bought another one just like it. Oh - and I chose it originally because of a top rating from Consumer Reports years ago. Comparing my Schlage deadbolt (two now) to my original non-Schlage keypad lock, this model is definitely an improvement. The original used an internal motor to throw & retract the deadbolt. I thought I would prefer this feature, but I soon ran into problems when the internal plastic gears got stripped whenever the deadbolt wasn't perfectly aligned going into the door jamb or had too much friction coming out - common for my front doorframe from slight hot/cold weather warping. To be clear, this was a problem on a different deadbolt lock which is why I switched to this Schlage model where I provide the locking & unlocking force (no motor) after pushing buttons. I haven't found anything plastic in this Schlage product. A final note: This deadbolt lock is fairly easy to install if you follow the easy-to-read instructions, i.e., not broken English from some poor translation. It's not a simple as, say, a plug-and-play USB for your computer. But most home front doors won't need any tools beyond a normal-sized screwdriver. Then "programming" the combination is crazy simple, again by following the clear instructions. It's nice too that they supply the 9-volt battery because I never stock those at home. The product has that heavy solid-metal heft that you want for home protection.

Superb
My handyman installed this for me in my brand new side door two days ago. I can't say much about the ease of installation, since I didn't install it myself. He did it correctly but had to study the directions for a while first since he had no experience in installing keypad deadbolts. This is so much more fun to have than I had thought. I should have had one installed years ago. It is surprisingly easy to operate and seems very secure. If you are carrying lots of packages and groceries, it is much easier to enter a code in the keypad than to look for keys, get them out, and put your packages down while you use them. I carried more groceries than you can imagine into my house this afternoon without having to put anything down while unlocking the door. You will no longer need to worry about locking yourself out. You can go on walks without taking your keys. I intend to change the battery once each year, whether it needs it or not. This could be done at the same time as you change the smoke alarm battery or doing some other yearly task. I no longer hide a key, which I think is a security risk. I do keep one at a different address/location but doubt it will ever be used. This deadbolt is well worth the money and the Antique Brass finish is absolutely beautiful (if that matters to you; it does to me). I recommend it highly. Since my other doors do not have Schlage locks, the locksmith tells me that there is no way to rekey all of them so that they all use just one key. Oh well. LOL Seems like every year I am carrying more keys than the last year. Edited to add: I just wanted to say that this was my favorite purchase of 2014 and it brightens my day every single day. Today is December 16th and by now I have had it for over 6 months. I have used it at least 1-2 times each day and it has worked flawlessly every single time without fail. I do plan to change the battery every January 1st, as a habit, so I will be doing that soon. I would recommend this keypad entry to you, so very highly. Edited again to add: In the summer of 2015 I moved to a new home, and I like these keypad deadbolts so much that I bought FOUR of them for the new home, one for every exterior door. They have been better than wonderful. I don't want to sound too "over the top", but these deadbolts are my favorite purchase ever. Well, other than the house itself. LOL Anyway, they work wonderfully. No problems with any of them, ever, not even once, as of April 2016 when I am writing this. They are so easy to operate, faster than a key really. I change the batteries on January 1st whether they need it or not, just because it's easy to remember to do it then. I keep one of the spare keys in a drawer at home, and gave one to someone I trust. But really, what's the chance of all four batteries going dead at once? Not much.

good product, good detail instructions with "courteous" support
I bought this unit a couple of weeks ago when Amazon had it on-sale. Installation was a breeze as I already had a standard deadbolt in place. I read the instructions and proceeded with the installation. I removed the old dead bolt and mounted the new unit. The new Deadbolt was quite a bit bulkier compared to the one I had. The bottom of the deadbolt barely cleared the existing door handle. In fact, I had to loosen the screw of the door handle so I could adjust the both units. I now have zero clearance between the deadbolt and the door handle. This is something for you to think about if your existing deadbolt and door handle is close to one another. Both my kids are now in middle school, so they leave later in the morning, and comes home before me. This unit will allow them to lock and unlock without keys. As such, I don't have to worry about them losing the keys... Alert!!! So, I finished mounting the deadbolt and proceeded to install the batteries. I change the default programming code and add new code for the wife and kids. Somewhere during the process of doing so, the deadbolt started getting out of snyc. I had to enter the code twice, before the deadbolt would engage. So I factory reset the unit, and used the default codes. I still had to enter the code twice before the deadbolt would engage. WTF? So, I called support, and was greeted by a support tech with no waiting. I explained my issue, and we went thru everything, but could not figure out why I had to enter the code twice to engage the unit. She thinks the unit is out of snyc and asked if I'd like to RMA the product back to them. I have Amazon prime, so it was most probably quicker for me to just order another unit and send this unit back, so I declined. Solution to the problem... Having an engineering background, I questioned (myself) if the unit was really out of sync. The result of having to enter the code twice every time was just too consistent to say it was out of sync. In the process of troubleshooting it, I found out that if you press the schlage button to lock the unit, and then you unlock it before the knob disengages, it will cause this issue. Advise to avoid this problem... Avoid engaging or disengaging the deadbolt until you are ready to test the unit with the door close. I was testing the deadbolt with the keys and the programming with the door open...locking and unlocking with the keypad and also manually with the key. By having the door close, you will be more systematic in engaging and disengaging the deadbolt. If you accidently lock yourself out, you can manually use the provided keys. I hope this helps you avoid the issues I had...

Easy To Install and Operate - Great Features!!
This is an excellent product! Very well made and perfect match in color to the other antique brass hardware preexisting on the door. Programing an additional code to the two that came with the product was a snap...very easy! Replacement of deadbolt is very straight forward, but, depending upon the brand being replaced, may require some mortising for the new strike plate on the jam - mind did. Careful use of a chisel resulted in a very nice installation. The deadbolt itself is longer and thicker than a typical builder grade deadbolt, so, you may need to drill out the hole in the door jam to accommodate the new bolt. I had to do this as well in this installation - no problem what so ever. I also purchased and installed a satin nickel version of this same lock - same comments as for the antique brass. Excellent product! I really like the ability to illuminate the key pad in low light situations. The blue light makes the keys very visible and easy to read. I also find the 'one touch' locking feature very convenient, making it unnecessary to re-enter the code to lock the door upon leaving. The manual key feature works well, but, it would have been nice had Schlage included two keys rather than just the one. The knob for locking is free turning after the lock is set. I think this to be a real plus for security as it makes picking virtually impossible and also very difficult to grab for punch out. This was a big consideration for me when I purchased the lock. I would recommend this lock to anyone looking to add extra security to their home!

Can't live without it!
I love my BE365 CAM 609 Keypad Deadbolt. The first time I ever saw this was at my cousin's house and thought, how clever! But then, I heard it became a pain because my aunt thought she could "drop by" unannounced at any point in time since she had the code. Years later I purchased my first home. I have two dogs and am recently divorced. When I took them potty, I would never lock the door (I live in a really nice area). Then I heard about a couple home invasions and started getting nervous about leaving the door unlocked in case someone would sneak in the couple minutes I'd be out. So, I started locking the door behind me. This became a pain carrying around a set of keys, poop bags, two leashes, etc. I was constantly dropping the keys and some times couldn't find them in the dark! So, I asked my cousin what brand his was and went to my local home improvement store. They only had 3 colors in stock, none of which matched my door handle. I'm so glad I found this at Amazon. It was the best price I could find and matched my door perfectly. Me and my dad installed it within 30 minutes. You can't match your old keys to it (I had quikset) but it's ok, because I don't carry the Schlage keys. If by chance your new deadbolt doesn't work (very unlikely as my cousin hasn't changed his battery in 5 years), you still have the ability to use your old key to get in (back door and garage access). It's very simple to set up, you can create multiple codes for certain people. For example, if you and your significant other break up, you don't have to re-key the house. Just delete his code and you're good! If you have an emergency and need your neighbor or police/firefighter to get in, just give them a code. I've had a greater sense of security since I purchased this Keypad Deadbolt. I never use my keys anymore, they just sit in my purse. It's great and I highly recommend!

Unreliable
Amazon service great as usual, otherwise I would have had major problems. I Installed a Schlage Touch Camelot keyless deadbolt about 3 years ago. It worked fine for about 18 months then the locking mechanism would sometimes not engage the deadbolt so that the knob would spin without the deadbolt locking or unlocking. A real problem when you leave as the house was open to anyone and if you were trying to get in when it failed to engage you were left outside punching the code as many as 10 times before the lock would open. Eventually I could not get the lock to open or close by using the key pad. Thought I would try this alternate design as it included a key. Fitted in March, keypad no longer operated deadbolt in April. Fortunately, Amazon allowed a replacement to be shipped before the return was made or I would have had a door with no lock. Schlage insist on a faulty lock being shipped back before a repair or replacement is offered. Not much use when you have to leave your house without a door lock, or you have to go out and buy a new lock to use while a decision is made on a replacement from Schlage. This new lock is now installed - a very easy task and looks good, but Iโm far from certain that it will last any longer than the previous two.

Once you use this you will want one on every lock!
I've had this for almost a year and it still works perfectly. This is a high quality lock with lots of neat features. At first I was a little skeptical because using the key takes some practice and this was my first keypad lock and I wanted to make sure I could use the key. I even went and got extra keys made for my family. What a waste of money that was! I have never used the key once! No one has, it is so easy and convenient. Things like warming your car up in the morning and not needing to shut off the car to lock up the house. Or hands full carrying all your bags of groceries in one trip (because who ever wants to make two) and it is so much easier then trying to fumble with a key when your hands are full. I also love that you manually turn the lock, I have an older home with front doors that sag a little and this way I control the door locking. I have a friend that has a keypad lock that has a motor to automatically turn the deadbolt, unfortunately if the door isn't lined up perfect it takes quite a few attempts for the door to actually lock. If you have an older home you know exactly what I'm talking about. With this one you control the deadbolt which is perfect. It also installs very easily, no extra holes to drill in your door, if you have ever changed a deadbolt this will be no problem for you. Just read the directions and you will be fine, the only hard part is using the key at first. The numbers have shown NO sign of wear whatsoever, the numbers are not painted on to wear or scratch off, they are a permanent part of the keypad.

Good quality lock, very reliable and convenient to use, but probably won't last a lifetime
This is my second time around with this same lock. Installed the first one about 10 years ago and it always worked like a champ. However, over the past several months it started to wear out. Often had to enter the code and turn the bolt several times, and then re-enter the code and turn the bolt some more, and so on, before it would finally catch the lock and open the door. Not a fun exercise, especially in the middle of winter. And this wasn't just a cold-weather problem, it continued to fail even as the temperatures warmed up. Clearly some internal part, maybe a spring or something, had deteriorated. Anyway, it was looking a bit worn after ten years use so I went ahead bought a new one on amazon for a very good price (for way less than what the big-box hardware store was asking). Took about 15 minutes to install. Easy. The new one appears absolutely indentical in every way to the old one, same design, parts etc., so I expect it to last at least as long as the old one. Time will tel!.

Never going back to keyed entry again
This keypad lock was easy to install and I love not needing to handle keys when I come in the house from the garage with an armload of groceries. The first set I received had mismatched parts and Amazon promptly sent me a new set that worked properly. About a week after installing it, I had some issues with it not locking, but after some jiggling, it has worked perfectly for months. I do carry the key โjust in caseโ.

Minor criticisms otherwise another great Schlage product.
Another solid Schlage product. As many have commented, the battery is used to power the release mechanism only but you are still required to turn the deadbolt. I prefer this arrangement to our Weiser Powerbolt that eats batteries and doesn't always reliably turn the deadbolt. Installation and programming are a breeze. I would say that using the key manually takes some getting used to but I rarely anticipate having to do this. Criticisms? It's only rated as a ANSI grade 2 vs the Schlage B60 which is a ANSI grade 1. The appearance while robust looking feels quite thin and weak from inside handle. Nevertheless don't let these small negatives deter you. Great product.

Great Lock
This lock works like a dream. We have had it at other homes and won't have anything else on my front door.
