Smoooth!
We are coffee people, and I mean coffee people. I've tried many, many types and always go back to Italian (although German comes very close). This one however, is one of the best I've ever come across in organics. It's extremely smooth. It's not overly nutty and has a sweet finish on the palate without hitting the back of the tongue with an overwhelming acidity=bitterness. My husband usually likes a more acidic coffee, but really enjoys this one.We also found that it's much easier on the stomach with a lower acid level, more so than Espresso, but not because of the chemical process. A naturally occurring lower acid level means it's a true dark roast. A good company that is truly organic should never use the chemical processes, and instead know how to actually roast the coffee properly. A slower roast allowing the oils (which contain the acid) to be roasted out of the coffee without over roasting, versus treating them chemically is the key in other words. You get the caffeine, just not the heart burn. And that is ideal for coffee drinkers like us.I think we've found the one! With all that said, it really does depend on your palate. I do believe however, that this has a nice overall compatibility with what most are wanting in a good strong coffee, especially first thing in the morning. A good deep flavor without knocking you back. Perfect for what we're wanting.BTW: The Chicco blend is THE best for iced coffee we've found, as the smooth yet bold flavor is complimented by cream and a hint of sweetness. Doesn't lose the flavor and gives you a nice aftertaste. I usually regrind it to a finer consistency for my espresso machine. You won't have the crema like you do with Espresso blends, but it's enough. And no worries, because this blend definitely has a bold enough flavor that is suitable for this type of drink. Actually - it's perfect. An added bonus is that it's grown and roasted right here in the USA! We couldn't recommend more.

THIS. IS. OUR. JAM.
We bought a super automatic espresso machine to replace a Keurig and a Nespresso. Problem was finding a good organic coffee to put in it. We experimented with many brands, until trying this one. THIS. IS. OUR. JAM. The bean is consistent and produces an amazing cup of coffee. Work output is up 43% since caffeinating with this blend. Woot!As far as the taste, I personally dont like acidic or fruity coffee. I also dont like a French/Italian/Espresso roast that is so dark that it has a burnt taste to it. (I've dumped more cups of coffee to those qualities than I care to admit.) This blend has none of those qualities. It is a solid dark roast that gives you the deep flavor and depth without the acid/fruity or burnt qualities. We regularly get complements (and requests for refills) on this coffee when serving guests.I know some people are concerned about the oil content of the beans. I do typically see some oil on the beans when opening a fresh bag. We've never had any issues with buildup or clogging on our super automatic machine in the ~2 years we have been buying this coffee.

My new daily coffee
I'm a dark roast girl...I like my coffee black and rich-tasting. I drink Turkish coffee down to the grit, sans sugar. Triple espresso, please. My husband doesn't drink coffee but prepares mine (using a travel french press cup) each morning and calls it/coffee generally my black tar heroin, jokingly of course! So I am always on the hunt for a great tasting cuppa. This roast is SMOOTH, very bold tasting, and happily goes a long way. I have a 16-oz cup each weekday and one bag lasts me about 6 weeks...that's with using a heaping tablespoon per serving. My husband comments that he prefers the aroma of this coffee over others I have had through the years.I get this through the Subscribe & Save program, and the last several shipments have been consistent, lovely, high-quality. It's been a great replacement for the Newman's Own French Roast that I used to buy in the grocery store (which I did like quite a bit) - now that one is the back up should I run out of this one. It's like Christmas Day when I see this gem in my shipment. :) I feel this coffee is a great find and a reasonable price, because those expensive coffee shops can't touch this in terms of cost, flavor and overall quality.

Perfection
This is my everyday coffee. My doctor told me not to drink coffee anymore due to my chronic heartburn. That just wasn't going to fly, so I went on a hunt for a compromise. This coffee is it! I drink at least two cups a day and it never contributes to any heartburn for me, being low acid. What's more is that it's an affordable, delicious, organic coffee full of beneficial anti-oxidants. I mean, this is as close to perfect for me as it gets. I love traditional Italian Roast, but it's usually way too expensive or hard to find. The Bean Coffee Company's Il Chico is so good! Bold but totally--and I mean TOTALLY--smooth.I'd recommend this coffee to anyone, hardcore caffeine aficionados to casual, occasional coffee drinkers to budget hunters that need one cup a day to people like me that need something easy on the digestive system. It's really that amazing. Everyone should drink this coffee.

Decent if the price is right
I purchased this 2-pack for about $14 last week, and I like it. It's good. In color it's not a dark roast, more of a darkish-medium, and it's not oily.I prefer the Organic Coffee Company's Dark French Roast because it's a true dark roast, and because 9 times out of 10 it is fresh and oily. However, at $14 I could not argue with this as a worthwhile substitute. now that the price has gone up to $24, I'll go back to the Organic Coffee Co.

Rated 4 stars for the changes in product.
When I first ordered this coffee about 2 years ago, this coffee had a full bodied, low acid smooth taste. Over the course of the last year it appears something has changed. The beans used to be all dark roast, now it is mixed with medium roast (beans that are not as dark as the rest) and you can taste the difference.

Excellent
Awesome coffee! Strong, with a slight and very satisfying bitterness to it. One of the best by this brand I've tried.
