These are "keyed" so they can only plug in the right way.
OK. First, let's clear up the "screws into the motherboard" misnomer. They don't screw into the motherboard. They "plug" into the motherboard & they screw into the chassis. Now, we can move on... I used to use these all the time, but haven't had the need for a while. I thought that when USB 3.x came along, USB 1 & 2 would go away. However, that has not been the case (no pun intended. It's an old computer joke). We still have USB 1 & 2 because they fill a need. These guys plug into the USB 2.0 headers that run along the outer edge of the motherboard. Usually there are 4 sets of headers, sometimes more. sometimes less. The header that's closest to the front of your computer is usually where the two USB 2 ports that are usually somewhere near the front headphone & microphone ports. Each of the plugs of these gizmos carry the wiring for 2 USB ports. Note, these are "keyed". One of the holes on the plugs was not drilled, on purpose. That purpose is so that most people can't plug them in backwards. Now, it's easy to plug them in so that only one side or the other is connected. That's going to take some patience to find & resolve, but it's not going to burn down your house. If you (or someone you know) do manage to plug these in backwards, there will be problems. Why? Because the grounds are on one end & the +5V are on the other end. That means, if you DO manage to plug them in backwards you will be putting the ground & the +5V together. If you let that stew for a while & go off & play video games, it's going to get hot. Very hot. Usually, it's not hot enough to burn your house down, but it is hot enough to burn your motherboard down. Remember, "If it doesn't go in easily, don't get a bigger hammer. You're probably plugging in to something that isn't meant to be plugged into with what you're about to hammer in. The Audio connector for the front panel audio, looks very much like the USB2 end & motherboard header. They are labeled. ALMOST always on the cable end, but not always. They are always labeled on the board though. Plus, the plug that goes in the audio header is also "keyed". No, not in the same place. They're different, so that you REALLY have to mean it to plug them in the wrong headers.I've been using these gizmos (4 USB 2 jacks) since USB 2 came out. That was probably after the dinosaurs died off, but before Cromagnam man. They'll last longer than your computer. Unless you really work at distroying them. I've still got some of these I purchased about 4 or 5 computers ago. When the computer dies, I just pull these off, take out all the screws I can get out & store them for down the road & take the hard drives out. Then I get the biggest hammer I can buy on this site & have a pounding party & send my old computer off to where old computers go when they die. These don't come with a screw to install them with, so hopefully you have some to use. Or the slots in the chassis have screws for you. That's probably the only less than perfect thing about these. I mean, two screws? Man, break out. Spluge & chip in 2 screws for those who are new to the "Do it yourself, computer thing. The screws should be sold in 10 packs or something, but in 300 years I've been doing this stuff, I've only seen them sold in packs with a million other screws for computers. That's what my next company will be. "The Ten Pack Screw Company". Sounds like fun, right? Amazon will probably beat me to it though...Anyway, these are quite easy to install, if you take the tips I provided to heart. Recap: Look for the labels & look for the "Keyed" plugins. Don't force anything when you plug it in. I'll wrap it up with the last tip. Plug them in firmly. Make sure they are all the way down & touching the motherboard, because it gets hot inside your computer case. Hot things expand. Then, someday you'll shut your computer down & it will cool down inside the case. That makes some things contract (get smaller). If you do that heat up/cool down thing a few times, the expanding & contracting can cause things that were poorly plugged in to work their way to the "not plugged in" sector. Electrical things that are not plugged in don't work nearly as well as ones that are plugged in. Unless those things were made to not plug in. These are made to be plugged in. They can be a bit hard to plug in the first few times. Be careful. No the difference between hard to plug in & square peg in a round hole. Don't force it. That good advice for a lot of things. The Zen of computer repair. Oooooohhhhmmmm.....

Worked great!
I had the option on my motherboard for standard USB 2.0 so I used this to add 4 more USB ports for use for items like Keyboard and mouse, since there is no need for a fast USB port to be wasted on the faster USB ports on the motherboard. Great addtion to not having to use a USB dock. Good quality it came as a white and silver mount. I spray painted mine to black so it works with the theme of the PC.

Thats 1.1
the 1.1 header is up near the front of the Mb, the 2.0 headers are split to front and back the 3.0 is in the middle, I had to run splitter boards on all 3 and these were long for the case, they pinched the Mb. Oh well thanks to Asus and Corsair for making things so tight.

Nice addon for my Cosair 4000D case
Since my pc case, the Cosair 4000D Airflow, doesn't use the two usb 2.0 headers on my motherboard, this product is nice to get those extra usb slots. However, it doesn't fit the back rails too well. He bends back just a little bit when I plug anything in, but it's not a problem once it's in. It works just nice. Although I only need one, since one uses two 2.0 headers.
