Great toy for a youngster obsessed with heavy equipment
I purchased this after watching videos of it in action and have to admit I was skeptical before watching because of the low price.I'm glad I was pleasantly surprised. It has already taken several tumbles with zero damage sustained. The main operator is 3 1/2 years old and uses it to load his trucks. It comes with an open hook and a spring loaded claw for lifting devises. The only way I could improve this is to have a spring latch on the hook so it won't fall off of the load while there's no tension on the lifting line - but that's being REALLY picky,Everyone has taken turns and enjoyed it.

3 yo is obsessed
My son loves construction trucks and his favorite are cranes so I knew he would love this. Took a chance despite some negative reviews and sure glad I did! Works perfectly for me. One thing that's annoying is the swing thing constantly fall apart but we used 8 tiny rubber bands (in this case orthopedic rubber bands) on the knob and now it stays in place. Just bought another as a gift!

Cheap and broke after 1 day
I bought this for my son for Christmas and it didn't even last the day. Flimsy parts come apart easily and the motor initially would lift well, but after a morning of use, barely lifts any weight. Says ages 3 to 5 but a child must also understand counter balance to play with it as it falls over very easily. Do not buy. It looks cool and my son loved it, but its cheap, wont last and is thus a waste of money.

Cool Crane for 5+
I waited to review this toy a full year. Love the Dickie toy prices but was apprehensive about buying, compared to other companies offering a similar toy at double the price. I rolled the dice and after that year, this crane is still standing and operating. It gets the full workout with two boys under 10. They have to troubleshoot it on occasion, but always 'fix it'. Operating a remote control is a big attraction. Dickies please come out with more 'action figures' to incorporate and buy separately.Recommend this for kiddos at least 5 or older.

My grandson love it!
It was quite fussy to assemble. The directions were a little vague in spots. One of the pieces to the basket was broken, so it can't be used. Despite these complaints, this is a pretty cool toy. My 7 yr old grandson loves it and love watching him play with it. I was clear that it's not very strong, so he's been kind of careful with it so far. I think barring an accident, it'll hold up for a while. The remote is really awesome. I'd pay twice the price if they could make the claw open/close with the remote. That's his only disappointment with it.

Impressive but flawed
Got it for Christmas and it lasted a day. The motor they have for lifting on the boom is super finicky. For a kids toy they need to be durable. A kid pulled on it and the motor broke immediately. There is also no support offered by the manufacturer. So if your kids are gentle then this is great but mine are not and it lasted just a few hours.

Grandson's Favorite
When we first put this together I didn't think it was going to be too sturdy, but I was wrong. It is actually built to come apart if it falls over and easily put back together. It is so much fun for my grandson and his friends. He is almost three and can operate the remote and since it is attached by a wire it doesn't get lost. The top part goes around and the hook goes back and forth and up and down. My only comment is that we only used one of the two pieces for the upper tower. It was too tall with both.
