Splinter Removal Kit - 3 Piece, Stainless Steel First Aid Kit - Ideal for Lifeguard, Camping, Beach, Home

The kit is great. The components allow for safe and relatively easy removal of splinters. The only problem is the sharpness of the items. My old kit came in a small case. For me, storage is a problem for this unit.

I had a terrible splinter deep in my foot that was undetectable on X-ray. The skin had healed over it, and we thought it was gone, but it hurt immensely to walk on it. So I got this kit and did mini surgery on myself. The blade is so sharpe that it didn’t even hurt (and I had messed with it a lot with plenty of things that definitely hurt i.e tweezers, needles, small knives...) the tweezers part got a good grip on the imbedded splinter, and I was able to take it out with relative ease considering the conditions. Everyone should have this kit. It also has the little attachments for applying pressure to remove something from the skin (I have seen people use it for black heads mostly) I do wish it came in better packaging, as it is only in small plastic bags that rip at the seams. Something reusable, and for easy storage would be preferred.

I would like to see this come with a little case. The blade and tweezers are so sharp, which I appreciate for splinters and stings, I recommend a travel toothbrush case.Also I find the end to unscrew all the time. It would be better if they gave 3 individual tools, instead of interchangeable heads.I gave 3 stars because it does get the job done but it’s not executed well.

I had purchased this to be a specialized unit in my first aid go bag. Splinters are quite common with folks who are working outside as are cactus and berry bush thorns. The idea behind the unit is great but the quality control is lacking. The First photo shows how the tools do not screw all the way into the tube. Photo 2 shows that when in working position they do. I do not think the tube is threaded far enough down on the inside. The lancet also will fit on one side of the tube correctly. as shown in photo number 3. however, if one looks at photo 4 one clearly sees that there is some damage to the threads, probably from some tool holding it while it was being sharpened and polished. Or all of the threads could have been cast and never finished with a die. Photo's five, six and seven show the working end of the tweezers, which while they might possibly be good for moving lacerated flesh, not useful on anything as small as a splinter. I will keep the kit however, I believe that with a tap and die I can salvage the tube portion and the tweezers will be used in hobby, I wouldn't recommend anyone buy it in the condition it is in now.
