It's sheer kindness, humour, love, and warmth on paper.
Oh my god, this book! It will make you laugh, wonder, and cry. The journey with this book was—how should I put it—heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The love between Satoru and his cat, the relationships Satoru holds on to, and the way he leads his life, all this is written in such an empathetic and warm manner. And Nana, Satoru's sassy travel companion, was a sheer delight! Reading about the difficult early years of both Satoru and Nana, how they found each other and stayed together till the end simply welled my eyes up. Honestly, I was a bit envious of their relationship and also of the writing. How can one write so wonderfully in simple language? The translation was quite wonderful as well. I wonder what it would have been to read it in Japanese and how I would have felt about the book. Maybe I would have cried harder. Yes, this book will stay with me for quite some time.If you are looking for a light, cosy, and heartwarming read, please do pick this one up. This book is sheer kindness, humour, love, and warmth on paper.P.S.: You will like it more if you are a cat lover.

Nice storyline
A pretty fascinating novel about life in general, the unexpected turns in people's lives, the people they meet, and the locations they end up written from the perspective of a cat and a few other characters.A quirky, moving, and melancholy novel that was originally written in Japanese. At times in the beginning of this work, you might find it to be a bit overly basic, but stick with it—it will capture your interest. The story is told from the viewpoint of Satoru Miyawaki and his devoted cat Nana, who was given this name because the Japanese character for the number seven looks like his tail.

Humerous, emotional and calm
This is such a magical piece of art:the writing is simple and peaceful;it's humorous but not too exaggerated;and the unexpected plot twist towards the end surprises the readers as well as makes them emotional. Beautiful. Highly recommend.

Average read.
I picked up this book because it's from a cat's perspective and I thought that's interesting. Also the book has such great reviews. The book has a lot of emotional moments. Also the cat's reactions are written in a quite funny way. But to be honest I thought the book was average. Maybe the essence of the book was lost in translation. The writing style is too simple. The story is predictable and not quite gripping.
