Excellent Coundown Timer
This is a really good neat little timer, the alarm is loud enough to be heard from the kitchen, easy to reset and remembers the last settings. There is a switch on the back to change from hours/minutes to minutes/seconds - really good idea. In order to clear the time, press the hrs/min buttons at the same time. It has a magnet, so you can place it on any metal surface and also has a stand. So easy to use and would highly recommend this product if looking for a timer.

The best timer you can buy
There are loads of timers out there, but this is probably the best one. I had two Hygiplas timers from Maplin's and they lasted about 15 years before constant abuse did for them. (In fact, I've just fixed one of them and it's fine again, apart from the battery cover and the stand.)The two big pluses about this thing, apart from its proven longevity, are the loudness of the alarm, and the fact that you can switch from Minutes/Seconds to Hours/Minutes.Unless you pressingly need a multi-timer - and I never actually use my four-way one - get this one. It works and it'll outlast most contenders.PS: If you get a decent kitchen timer like this (which I use for cooking, writing, and loads of other things), you'll use it far, far more often than your phone app. It's just easier, and you just will. Trust me.

Pretty bad
Timer worked well as I’ve used these before, magnet failed… fell on the floor and didn’t turn back on so maybe avoid

Function over fashion rules! BUT BEWARE THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS!
Decided to buy this version after recommendation even though it was the more expensive of its type. In fact when looking for a timer there were many criticisms in reviews of other models that I was not sure which way to turn. So sort the advice of a professional chef who said Hygiplas was the definitive in the catering world. Well this one does do the trick. The buzzer is really loud the numbers are easy to see from any angle. There are two types of settings - minutes & seconds (up to 99mins 99 secs) - the minutes and seconds count down by the second and continue to count down after the alarm and hours & minutes - the hours and minutes count down minutes at a time with flashing H and M symbols to indicate it's running. It also continues to count down (in minutes) after the alarm. The buttons are large (useful with sticky hands). And the magnetic bars on the back seem to stick fine. Though I wouldn't want to guarantee the device would not break if it were to fall off. Looks a bit retro in my kitchen but function over fashion rules!ONE YEAR LATER...it did fall off and hit the tiles and now the buzzer did not work! So I re-ordered and as others have mentioned - this one arrived with no Hrs/Mins Mins/Secs switch on the back; no count down after the alarm; only Hrs and Mins legend on the front (see my pic even though AMAZON pic shows both clearly); and extremely unpleasant piercing beeps! I checked the original order supplier and it was "Revelation at Home" and this later one was (by default) from CATERINGBASE). So I contacted Revelation to see if they could supply the original version and they offered an ETI brand. It was the same size, more moulded frame though functions just like the original one and complete with pleasant beep (see above front and back pics). Interesting to note that the receipt from Revelations described it as a "Hygiplas" CAVEAT BEWARE - don't BUY without contacting the supplier or you will not get the version we are all raving about! When it arrives take it out of the box and if the magnet at the back is round and not two vertical bars - it is most likely the wrong one. AMAZON accepted the wrongly described version back for a full refund.

Inferior Product
I bought this to use for BBQ cooking. Firstly it does not turn off, unless you take the battery out! There is a belt clip on the back of it which has a very small magnet on it. So when you use the magnet to hold it in place any touching of the buttons on the front of the device knocks it off balance causing the magnet to lose contact. Then there is no way of turning the sound off, and when pressing the buttons to set the timer every press causes an irritating noise. There are far better products on the market IMHO for a lot less money which have none of the faults and the same basic functionality! Avoid!!

Great overall
This timer has a very large display, which is great for glancing at from a distance across the kitchen. Can be changed from hours-minutes to minutes-seconds. Loud beep and starts to count up after the alarm so you can see how long it has been since it went off.Magnet or stand, both work well enough. Takes a AAA battery to easier to replace when the time comes.Downsides? Well it wants to rock side to side when stuck to your fridge and you are pressing the outer two buttons. The price also is a little on the high side.Best one I have ever used mind you.

The best timer I have ever bought.
I love that you can change this timer between hours / minutes and minutes / seconds at the flip of a switch.I have bought cheaper versions before that quickly fade and die, but I now have two of these in my kitchen, and love them.Clear, easy to use, and loud enough to wake you up if you have forgotten that the spuds are on the hob!

Good timer
Loud ringer, big display and easy to use. Need to flick a switch on the back to change form hours and minutes to minutes and seconds. Not just used for cooking, we use it for several things like kids time on the console etc.
