Q: If i buy a deep cycle marine battery, will it have a slot of the water indicator stick that the pump comes with so it does not alarm.

I have heard you can buy a marine battery and put sensor in a cup of water since it only detects that there is liquid in the battery so that the watchdog does not go dry. Seased marine batteries do not have this issue

Q: how many quarts of acid does the battery require

If you use a maintenance free battery instead of this maintenance battery yes there is a way to bypass the alarm. To do this you will want to connect the sensor to the positive terminal by sandwiching the sensor between the positive wing nut and termina. Q: why does a new battery go dead?

It's possible that the charge consumed by the control unit for 'Power' and 'Water Level' monitoring triggers brief, but frequent, charge cycles. Repeated cycles of partial charging and discharging will increase stratification (layering by specific gravity in this case) of the electrolyte, reducing the capacity and performance of the battery due to the lack of acid on top limits plate activation.Another issue is BWD's policy of releasing products with new control units the same name and part number as their predecessor(s) so it's not clear on their website nor the original manual which battery is best suited to your backup system unless your serial number is 300000 or higher.It's also possible that the wrong electrolyte was used to initiate catalysis in the battery since it is not packaged with BWD. It's up to the consumer to divine the electrolyte with the required specific gravity which wont be shown on any electrolyte's packaging. Assuming the *only* electrolyte on a store's shelves is the right one for the battery they're selling might be problematic for you but it'll probably last the duration of the battery's warranty.There's always the chance of a manufacturing defect which would be covered under warranty. Unfortunately the warranty doesn't include the electrolyte which probably explains why they're not packaged together.
