Bought it as a gift for son’s girlfriend with celiacs. Along with a crockpot/slow cooker. She’s using both.

50/50 rate of success with the recipes
I like the types of recipes in the book. I always love a cookbook with breakfast! I have tried several recipes and have only had a 50 percent success rate. The cinnamon French toast and peach streusel were dry and not good. I loved the strawberry freezer jam and the chicken and drumsticks with fennel and sausage. My one wish is that the steps were a little more detailed. For example I’m going to make the roasted pear and nutmeg oven pancakes and I don’t know if I pour the pancake mix over the cooked pear mixture. Maybe it’s me but I’ve run into this questioning on other recipes with the book. The freezer jam wouldn’t set unless I froze it, although the recipe says it can be stored in the refrigerator. I am still going to try more recipes and can adjust my rating if my success rate improves.

Easy Gluten-Free Recipes, With a Nice Mix of Ethnic Food and Family Favorites
I think that this cookbook will appeal both to people who are gluten free and to people who just love the convenience of cooking with a slow cooker. The cookbook features a nice mix of recipes. For adventurous eaters like myself, there are great recipes for dishes like Thai soups (Tom Yum, Tom Kha Gai), Chakchouka (a Northern African stew), Sweet Potato Curry (sounds yummy!), Butter Chicken and Jambalaya. But there are enough basic recipes--from Pot Roast and Sloppy Joes to Veggie Lasagna and Mac and Cheese to appeal to most families. There's also quite a few fish and seafood recipes (in addition to chicken, beef and vegetarian mains) which is not something I typically see in slow cooker cookbooks. I love seafood so I'm excited to try those recipes out.The book also includes a discussion about the many reasons why people go gluten free, what celiac disease is. There's a list of instructions of ingredients to avoid if you are gluten-free (like cooking spray--who knew?) The cookbook also notes that not all gluten-free ingredients are healthy and discusses the nutrition of different alternative grains and ingredients. It advises to avoid the processed foods in the gluten free aisle. But then the book also incorporates gluten free pasta and bread into some of its recipes, so it contradicts itself a bit on that count. For people who follow a Paleo diet, there are a number of Paleo-inspired recipes in the book, and every recipe is helpfully labeled with whether it is also dairy free, soy free, nut free, and vegetarian-friendly, in addition to being gluten-free. The recipes look quick and easy to prepare: most have 4-5 steps tops and the ingredient lists aren't too long.Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book to review.

Gluten Free Doesn't Mean Taste Free with this book
I would never naturally choose a gluten free diet, though my wife has made me well aware of the many health benefits this type of diet promotes. She, however, has been trying it out and this book is the perfect companion to enjoying this type of cooking. First of all, I truly love slow cooked meals, so this is a big plus here. Sure, the well researched information regarding gluten free dieting is here, along with a detailed explanation of what ingredients can and can’t be used when you want to go gluten free. For me, though, the high point is the numerous recipes available. Tell you the truth, I have no idea I’m eating healthy when my wife whips up one of the recipes here. And the pictures are gorgeous. Professional mouth watering photos that make you want to try every recipe in the book. I only recently purchased the book and am still getting familiar with all of the benefits a gluten free diet can bring. wasn’t familiar with gluten before reading this book by Rockbridge Press, a company known for well researched and well formatted books on many dietary topics. There is so much out there about healthy eating that it’s sometimes hard to distinguish from the good and bad, which is why when I find a book that breaks it all down clearly and concisely, I want to take advantage of the knowledge. I don’t go out of my way to eat healthy all the time, but I do give it my best, and this is one of the books helping me to make the best out of eating right. If you’re looking for a truly do-able way to make your meals gluten free or just looking to experiment, this is the book for you. Detailed instructions on cooking with gluten free ingredients and using substitutes as well. If you simply want a great collection of slow cooker recipes, this is the book for you as well.

Clear instructions and a lot of recipes to work with.
I’m a novice in the kitchen with a busy schedule and a long list of houseguests soon to arrive - several of whom have gluten sensitivity and one with Celiac. I want to help make everyone as happy as I can, and I think this book is going to help without driving me crazy.First off: the explanations of food prep and best practices in the kitchen are a great help to anyone who hasn’t taken a Home Ec class in awhile - I sort of knew where gluten came from, and I more or less remembered how to avoid contaminating everything in the house when preparing a meal, but this book battles the vagueness of memory with clear, easy instructions (this advice also works for handling peanuts or shellfish) . The authors offer simple advice and knowledge on how things work, what the low-and-slow method can and can’t do for your food (it won’t brown the meat, for instance) and how to get started so it is as easy as possible. My version, on Kindle, wins for ease of use simply because I can bookmark a recipe for Tuesday, stumble down to the kitchen on Tuesday morning, do just what it says and then turn on the slow cooker to cook on low for 8 hours. By the time it’s done, I barely remember the morning and can pretend I have a live-in chef.I was given a copy of this cookbook to review, but I will probably be sending a few physical copies out to my friends this Christmas, especially those with children with food allergies. Every little bit helps!

Very Unimpressed with this Cookbook
Very unimpressed with this cookbook. For a start when I buy a cookbook of recipes, I do not expect the recipes to use ready-made, shop-bought ingredients. For example, if the recipe is for Cheesy Enchiladas in Chile Verde Sauce, I expect to see a recipe for making Enchilada Sauce, not one that says take 1 (28- OUNCE) CAN CHILE VERDE ENCHILADA SAUCE!Secondly, if you like to see what you're going to cook, please be aware that there are very few photographs in this book. There are no photographs illustrating actual recipes, just a photograph at the start of each chapter that often seems to bear absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to the recipes within that chapter. Finally, UK cooks should note that the recipes are all in American measurements (cups of spinach, tablespoons of butter etc).Unlike some other reviewers who received this book for free, I bought this book albeit only for 99p when it was on offer, but even with that low a price, it was not a good buy.

If you are looking for a great and healthy food experience then this cookbook will certainly satisfy your needs! What struck me the most was the level of detail in the book, I read the book not knowing a whole lot about gluten-free cooking but now I understand and have more insight in the world of gluten-free cooking.I also thoroughly enjoyed the tips and tricks throughout the book which can help you save money and time and I thought it was very useful especially the section based around making the most of your slow cooker. However I do wish that there were pictures for all the recipes as they show you how it is supposed to look.I would recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a healthy alternative or just want to find out more about slow cooking and gluten free cooking.Disclaimer: I received this book for free for my honest review
