Squirrel deterrent…
Grit just right for the garden. Good size bag for the price. Will use as squirrel deterrent and for drainage in window boxes especially. Very pleased with quick and free shipping.

Attractive nature friendly slug deterrent
About the size of perlite,pale grey.Perfect as a topping for potted succulents.I have also used as a slug deterrent around various alpines.

good sizes of grit, do not understand why anything smaller would be preferred, helps to keep soil from clumping and gives good drainage to pots, in our case a large olive tree.

Excellent Product, But Packaging and Pricing Needs Improvement
I purchased the Melcourt Horticultural Coarse Grit based on a recommendation from The Good Food Kitchen on Bluesky Social. I used it to improve the drainage of an asparagus bed I'm establishing in clay-heavy soil. Combined with horticultural sand, this grit has significantly enhanced soil structure, which promotes better root development and overall plant health. The product itself is of high quality: washed, lime-free, and with a consistent 2–6mm particle size, making it ideal for improving drainage in heavy soils. However, my experience was marred by the packaging. The bag arrived completely broken, with a significant amount of grit spilled out before it reached me. This issue has been noted in previous reviews, and it's disappointing that the seller, Suregreen, hasn't addressed this recurring problem. The price is also a concern. This purchase was hugely expensive, almost twice Melcourt’s recommended price, which makes it difficult to justify buying regularly, especially when alternative suppliers offer similar quality at a lower cost. Given the quality of the product, I would recommend it for improving soil drainage. However, due to the packaging issues and high price, I would advise purchasing from a different seller or opting for an in-store purchase to ensure the product arrives intact.
