Vegan Natural Kosher Choice
Vegan. Natural. Kosher. Beautiful, classic yellow dal. Dal means lentils which have been split in half, similar to split peas and split pea soup. Yellow dal is a staple of Indian meals (thalis.) Not spicy, but very rich and flavorful. In addition to serving with or over rice, great with bread or toast. Jodhpur is a city in Rajastan, India located southeast of New Delhi. Raja means king. Rajastan is also well known for the high percentage of orthodox Hindu vegetarians living there. Made with lentils, sunflower oil, salt, tomatoes, garlic, cumin, tumeric, and chilis. Easy-open foil pouch. Approx 220 calories, 12g protein, 5g fat per pouch. Labeled vegan on the back of the box. By using only vegetable oils, this wonderful treat also lets Ama Gai [mother cow] save her milk for her own babies. Although freshly and locally made is always better, this Tasty Bite dish is a fantastic tribute to the cuisine of Rajastan and a great choice for everyone to enjoy the wonders of this wonderful Indian cuisine at home. Product of India. Highly recommended. Also really like Tasty Bite Entree, Bombay Potatoes, 10-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) and Tasty Bite Entree, Bengal Lentils, 10-Ounce Packet (Pack of 12) . Yummy For My Tummy
I recently decided to try Indian food as I never had before, and was lucky enough to discover the Tasty Bite brand on Amazon. At this point, I've tried almost all of the Tasty Bite entrees that Amazon carries, and this one has to be my all-time favorite. I LOVE lentils and didn't even know it! The sauce that the lentils are in is so flavorful and delicious. Just after heating it is a little thin, as other reviewers have noted, but all you need to do is wait for it to cool just a bit, then give it a stir or two, and it thickens up nicely. I am one who prefers to keep the spices on the milder side of the scale, and this dish would be mild even by my standards. Anyone who wants to try Indian food but hasn't because they fear the spices should give this one a try. I think even the most sensitive palate could handle this with ease. I recommend these delish, healthful lentils to all. Try them and you'll enjoy each Tasty Bite!

Hearty satisfying and tasty
I really like the flavor of Jodhpur Lentils. It is soupy but if you let it sit for a few minutes after removing the pouch from the boiling water, it thickens nicely. I serve it over Casbah Couscous. This is something I crave at times and nothing else will do. Our fav Tasty Bite is Jaipur Vegetables, but we also stock this Lentil one as well as the Peas Paneer and Paneer Makhani. I love that the ingredients in Tasty Bite are healthy, and it is great to have Indian cuisine in a convenience food. Amazon sells out of many of these, but you check tastybite for singles and cases, they also have free shipping with $50, which is fine if you buy cases of several varieties.

MUCH better than I expected...
I bought these Tasty Bite Jodhpur Lentils to keep at the office, along with some pouches of chicken, so that I could have something reasonably healthy on those days when I don't have time for a real lunch break. To my surprise I love them! Seriously. Instead of being my "Meh, at least it's not out of the vending machine" kind of lunch, I actually look forward to these. The ingredients are very simple. Adding chicken, or tuna, ups the protein even more (from 12g for the pouch to >20g), and these are ridiculously low in fat (<5g per pouch). The spices are very mildly curry-ish, not so much that you (or your office) will reek of curry, but pleasantly so. This is my third order, and I've added them to Subscribe & Save because I really do like them...and as a bonus, there's no need for a bowl or plate. The pouch even manages to keep my microwave clean because the sides are high enough to contain any potential spatter matter. Yuup, I'm happy with these.

So easy and so good!
I thought I had received the wrong flavor before I realized the name changed to Split Pea Turmeric Curry :) And either Amazon or Tasty Bite needs to update the name on the listing which still shows Jodhpur Lentils. My last order also had one wrong pouch - it was the Vindaloo flavor. I'll try it since it's vegan, but it's labeled hot, so I'll see how that goes. Anyway, I love this flavor. I've tried several and kept coming back to this one. I usually add some greens and quinoa and top it with yogurt. So far, I've ordered this three times in 2023 and the price has gone from $28 to $21 to $29. Of course, the $21 was a more reasonable price, but I can't always find this flavor in store. It's very handy to order from Amazon.

Maybe you had to be there
I just couldn't like this heat-and-eat lentil dish. From reading the other reviews, I have learned what I could have known sooner: This is a close.approximation of one's dear Indian grandmother's recipe; it is more soupy than firm (think spoon and bowl rather than fork and plate); though it is bland, no harm will come if you add spices, chopped tomato and chopped onion. Moral: Read the other reviews first. These tips will come in handy, for I have five more packets to use up.

Low end of the spectrum .. pretty bad!!
Had four of their products - veg tikka masala, jodhpur lentils, Jaipur veg, Bengal lentils - the lentils preparations are average to ok. The veg tikka masala is bland and tasteless, full of gravy and corn (not a veggie and not a healthy grain either), probably shud get the corn removed and include more veggies or increase quantity of included ones. The jaipur veg is a travesty of the recipe - its nothing like anything I have tasted across India - the unprepared & overcooked beans overwhelm the flavor which is almost slight watery sweet - the vegetables seemed to be overcooked and the gravy overtly oily - cud count 2-3 pieces only of Paneer in each of the servings (I bought 6 of them). I don't recommend either of the four, though the lentils could supplement if you have other curries available but on its own no.

very mild (no heat) and flavorful...great fast meal.
I am not usually a fan of packaged foods, but these were on sale so I thought I would give it a shot. I warmed up the lentils a sauce pan and added some fried onion and garlic and finished with a dollop of sour cream and fresh cilantro. Fantastic and tastes pretty authentic minus the tongue-searing spice. Although I love Indian food I don't handle heat too well so I was pleased that these are very mild. If you love the heat of Indian food then you may not like these, but for me perfect.
