Recovering with T3: My Journey from Hypothyroidism to Good Health using the T3 Thyroid Hormone: 1 (Recovering from Hypothyroidism Series)

Not Helpful
I purchased this book in 2011. I also followed the method for well over a year on one occasion, and more than that on the second time I tried it I have been ill with both adrenal and thyroid issues for decades, long before this, and had all but given up with doctors by this point, so given the hype Paul Robinson writes for himself, and promised for his book, I was expecting great things. Obviously, as a long time sufferer of thyroid issues, I was already familiar with the work of Dr Skinner, Dr Peatfield, was and had been a patient of both, and had been a long time visitor of the Stop The Thyroid Madness website, and had read Janie Bowthorpe's book, which includes much of the information included on the website, Dr Peatfield's book, and those of various other innovators who have long recognised the dire gap there is in treating both thyroid and adrenal issues. This existing information was nothing new, and not something Paul Robinson can lay claim to discovering or innovating.Firstly, I found this book basically included much of the information that is already freely availably on the Stop The Thyroid Madness website, and generally online, except it is much better organised and understandable on that website, and in Janie's book. But that was to be expected, there was nothing new there, the main selling point of this book at the time I purchased it, was meant to be the revolutionary 'Circadian T3 Method', which was meant to be ground breaking and something Paul Robinson had discovered through his own journey from ill health to being well again, and would be sharing with us all, so that we could also benefit. The book included therefore a great chunk of material that could already be found existing on Janie's website, for free, i.e. the various background conditions, blood tests required, deficiencies that could affect your progress etc, and details on Paul Robinson's personal journey. Then there is the portion of the book we were all waiting for, relating to the actual method itself, which as I say, I followed pretty religiously, for over a year, the first time, and for even longer than that, the second time. It did not work for me, at all, and actually made me feel worse than I did to begin with. The idea, as it was in the version of the book I purchased at the time, of waking up earlier and earlier each morning, and eventually at 4-5 AM to take my T3 every morning, and then invariably never being able to get back to sleep again, or at the very least, being awake for a few hours before I ever did manage to get back to sleep, and therefore disturbing my sleep every night, at the exact point my adrenals would be rebooting themselves as it were, seemed like utter madness to me, and as though it would only make me worse off. But I persisted with it anyway, and spent at least two years of my life feeling absolutely awful, even more awful than I had felt before. Due to not being particularly well to begin with, having a bad night's sleep was difficult for me to begin with, doing it repeatedly only worsened the issue, and it never ever got any better, no matter what I tried as suggested in the book. For me, this book was over priced, especially in comparison with its better and existing counterparts, not particularly helpful, the information contained within it consisted of 95% of information I already knew, and could obtain for free online from much more helpful websites, and 5% of information which was purported to be a 'revolutionary' technique which would help make my lifelong illness better or cure it completely and 'give me my life back', which could have been covered within a one page website, and which ultimately did not work, at all.It also concerns me to see that this book has now been stretched into three books, and that now means that people are being forced, as it were, into paying for three books, and therefore three times the price for the same tiny amount of information, as noted by other reviewers, that will not necessarily work for them, and when they can find 95% of the information regarding helping their thyroid issues online on the website mentioned above, or just by buying the latest version of Janie's book. This strikes me as more of an exercise in exploitation, as opposed to one in actually helping fellow sufferers, and does not sit well with me.As has been mentioned in other reviews, this is a difficult read, not particularly professionally published, there was no index, and there are literally thousands of us who could write our own personal journeys to wellness and publish them, add in a bunch of info from long existing websites like Stop The Thyroid Madness and long existing books like Dr Peatfield's, Your Thyroid And How To Keep It Healthy, and claim it as a 'revolutionary' new technique which could also help others. The question is should we? There is something, even more so now, with this one book having been stretched into a 'series' and three books, at a cost of three times the price, ever so slightly snake oil about this product. I wish more than anyone that this technique, was in fact exactly what it claims to be, and that it did offer all of us the miracle it purported to, ten years ago when it was first being published, but if it did, I'd question whether the author would have had to then stretch it into three books, and try and charge three times as much for something they could achieve with the sale of just one book. As the saying goes, if it worked, wouldn't everyone be buying it?

This book might just save your life
I cannot stress strongly enough just how valuable a resource Recovering from T3 is. After personally suffering from undiagnosed hypothyroidism for the last 5 years and my watching my life crumble down around me I too, like Paul, had to make it my personal mission to get to the bottom of my devastating health problem and get my life back. After realising and confirming that my ill health was down to thyroid and adrenal insufficiency and after a T4/T3 treatment failed to sustain an improvement I got the nod from my private doctor to embark on T3 only. I purchased Paul's book and it has become my bible. The book is packed with everything you would need to know about T3 and how to use the hormone to correct thyroid and adrenal problems that don't respond to a T4 treatment. If I hadn't of purchased Paul's book I wouldn't of known how to start or what to do, he takes you through the treatment protocol step by step with the wisdom that can only be gained from first hand experience. The book also explains how to interpret lab tests, what can go wrong with the thyroid and adrenals and everything you need to do as a sufferer to get your life back and get the right treatment that works for you. There are also many other variables that may need addressing which Paul clearly and logically explains.Within 2 weeks of following Paul's advice in this book I started to feel like I was in my own body again. I urge anyone who has unresolved thyroid and adrenal issues or indeed suspects they do and are not getting better to buy this book. Take charge of your health and live the life you were supposed to. This also applies to anyone who has been labelled with 'CFS or Fibromyalgia' like myself, when really the cause was a lack of thyroid hormone in my cells which couldn't be seen through a blood test.I applaud Paul for taking the time to put down his harrowing experience on paper and to help other sufferers understand their illness and recover. I have no doubt that thousands of people will end up benefiting from this book and especially with the ground breaking technique included that improves adrenal function without the use of synthetic steroids. Thank god I found this book, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Life-changing book for anyone with thyroid issues - diagnosed or suspected
Very important book. Easy to read, very comprehensive and concepts well explained. Unlike other books read in the past, this is an unique source of information, some of which is not available elsewhere. The author has, by sharing this, undoubtedly improved and saved lives. I'm very grateful to have stumbled upon this book which is worth every penny. If only there was such a "guaranteed success " manual for other things in life too. Well done to the author who is undoubtedly the most knowledgeable person on this subject I have ever encountered.

An Education & Support For Both Patients and Doctors
This is such a helpful book for those wanting to try T3 liothyronine therapy for their hypothyroidism. There really isn't anything else out there as informative for patients. Doctors would also find it helpful to read, because a majority of doctors don't seem to have the knowledge about this particular thyroid medication. Paul Robinson backs up what he writes about in this book with logic and science. He has many years of experience of being a thyroid patient himself and developed a protocol that's written about in the book, of what worked for him with preparing his body for T3 Therapy and finding his optimal dose. This book is a product of what wisdom he's accrued. It is very practical and informative book. It empowers anyone who reads it.
