I needed to understand the process of thinking, our ancestors used while creating the built space. Our thinking about a place.is not purely based on form and function as I could understand from the book. It makes an interesting and very useful reading. Good book. I recommend that not just students of architecture but people interested in Indian culture also read this book.

Superb book

I bought this book as a gift for my wife, who's an architect. She loved it. It is a very detailed and meticulous work on Indian architecture and concepts and meanings behind the designs. Highly recommend specially for Indian or foreign architects or enthusiasts, but also anyone just interested in Indian culture.
