This was a Christmas gift for my 16yo daughter, she's an old soul that loves old music. She told me about a time when the a teacher was playing La Bamba movie and it was getting to the part when they were getting on the airplane, she said she was just crying and none of the other kids knew what was happening, they kept asking if she was OK...I just knew I had to get her the record. She said it plays well and sounds good. We're very pleased with this!!

The disk itself didn’t have scratches nor was it bent. The sleeve didn’t have prints or dust and was not bent at the corners like other records I have ordered in the past. The sound is clear and without skips. Would recommend.

The energy and purity in these recordings is so infectious. That you can't shake them from your day. Why would you want them to be?They rock, they roll, they have a great rhythm, and a great blues. I love the back beat too. It is so loose and so imperfect that it is well...perfect.Sure, It is obviously a classic record. But it is more than that. It is a "desert island record". That should be appreciated more than it is. It is an undeniably influential recording. That caught the ears of so many who have come after it.The songs have no backing vocals but they are wrapped in a melody that brings on harmony vocals and I'm sure was an influence on the multi-vocal Doo-Wop recordings of the early 60's.What I love about the lack of backing vocals is that it adds a loneliness to the sound of the record.Which is more than applicable to his legacy.For this price and the quality of the music. This is a tremendous bargain and a great way to introduce music to kids and adults alike.It has an innocence to its sound that can only be performed by someone as young as he was, 17.I think if you have purposely sought out this album or if you have stumbled on it here. Buy it.If you like rock-n-roll. That is.

Ordered this record based on a recommendation from a friend who stated that Valens was the greatest artist that never was. After listening to this, it's hard to disagree. There was so much potential in the 17 year old that we never got to see realized, but what he left behind is a very small catalogue of well crafted songs.

It's OK, but not the highest recording quality!

Una avioneta, un piloto principiante, un pésimo clima, una gira mal planeada fueron los ingredientes que truncaron la vida y carrera de este chico que apenas con 17 años, 8 meses de éxito y número 1, desapareciera para siempre junto con otros dos rockanroleros, uno de ellos el más importante (en cuestión de fama), Buddy Holly y JP, Richardson (Big Bopper), lo únbico que queda para variar, es su música, y este album le hace justicia no solo en la gran compilación que tiene si no en la tremenda calidad de sonido audiofilo de 180 gramos.Temas clásicos como "La Bamba", "Donna", Come On, Let's Go", "Oh My Head" y "Framed", sin olvidar "On A Turkish Town", o "That's My Little Suzie", entre otras y con unos 4 tracks nunca antes escuchados que se grabaron durante las sesiones que realizó.Ritchie Valens, es un album que no debe faltar en la colección de cualquier rockero, no solo por ser VALENS, si no proque este chico fusionó la música folclórica, el blues y el rockabilly. Como anéctoda: En 1975 Robert Plant y Jimmy Page acudieron a la casa donde vivía la madre de Ritchie, la señora Connie, con el propósito de saber un poco mas de su hijo fallecido, sus raíces, su forma de componer y su amor por el rock, Page, ha comentado que este chico de Pacoima, fue una de sus inspiraciones para fusionar música tradicional de otros países con el rock, el folk y el blues....ustedes juzguen!

Todo el mundo conoce la tragedia de Ritchie Valens. Solo editó unos cuantos singles y este album recopilatorio (póstumo). 10 temas de rock and roll de gran calidad, incluido "La Bamba", su gran éxito, y primera canción de rock en español.
