Early Flying Colors Concert Doesn't Disappoint
Never heard of these guys except Steve Morse from Deep Purple. This concert went on sale so I gave it a shot. Read they were a prog band so I wanted to hear Morse in that setting. Didn't figure the other players could possibly be as stellar on their instruments but they were . They are also great songwriters and I heard heavy influences from Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, and Radio Head. Great Beach Boys tight harmonies. Nice close ups of Steve's hands on solos for guitar players. I would highly recommend this early concert and I will be exploring more recent ones as well. Glad I gave them a shot. Enjoy!!!!

Corrected Review
The company sent me a new and working DVD, would have been a 5 star except didn't get complete package, but it is all there without the packaging, I appreciate the company making things right. This is a corrected review with the original review as follows. BTW a great concert DVD.I don't think I have ever given a 1 star review at Amazon, and I will gladly change this one once the distributor makes things right. 1st of all, while the special features documentary, (if you can call it that) does work on my DVD player, the concert does not. I get music, but no video, it is a crying shame and so far the distributor of the DVD has not responded to my requests since day 1 of the release. I emailed them, posted on the bands facebook page and much more. Now don't take this wrong, but I don't and neither should anyone else blame the band. I personally have met and worked with Steve Morse, he is a great guy and this is a great band. I ordered the CD sometime ago and it is as well a great CD. That said, I should also state, Amazon is great, they are sending me out another DVD, (which likely won't work either if from the same batch) but they are doing their part and if that DVD doesn't work they will refund the money, I'll keep the non working DVD for a Frisbee, and I will ultimately get my money back. I do terribly want the DVD but whoever is managing this bands activities, including DVD device must be the same person working for the Obama Care Health Care Web site as neither is working, at all, and both are extremely frustrating. That said, and I can say this since Steve personally called Twigs Jr., they need someone like Twigs on the case to make things right, no matter what the cost because the fans are worth it.Hope that is all clear, I love the band, want the DVD, am very disappointed in the lack of response as to the problems that apparently people here and at the bands Face book page are having. I want me some working Flying Colors, Live In Europe DVD on Blu-ray!

Unfortunately all the right superlatives have been so misappropriated and wasted on lesser bands that it seems trite to say ...
What can I say about this band? Unfortunately all the right superlatives have been so misappropriated and wasted on lesser bands that it seems trite to say they are "awesome, great, incredible, blah, blah, blah". The producer set out to put together a supergroup; that was his mission and did he succeed? ...a resounding YES - and that is an understatement! Somehow, some way things came together for the planet's greatest guitar player, none other than Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Kansas, the Steve Morse Band, Deep Purple, 5 time-in-a-row Guitar Player Magazine "Player of the Year" / Hall of Famer (1 of only 3), and the only bassist that could play Steve's licks, Dave LaRue (he has worked with Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, The Hellecasters, Pat Travers, Steve Lukather, Mike Stern, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Albert Lee, Paul Gilbert, Tony MacAlpine, Rik Emmett, Ace Frehley, and Steve Vai). That duo has long been enough for 2/3 of a world-class band. Now add the metal maniac drum kit talents of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Transatlantic, and Avenged Sevenfold, 26 Modern drummer awards and Hall of Fame inductee, and multiple "Drummer of the Year" awards), the incredible keyboard skills of Neal Morse (Transatlantic) and the, (dare I say beautiful?) voice of Casey MacPherson (Alpha Rev) and you have a band with a magic chemistry that has never been seen before. These amazing men bring the best of the best to the table, and trust me, you will leave the table stuffed! With songs ranging from an emotive Celtic ballad to rip-your-head-off hard rocking, the soaring Eagles quality vocals are tastefully punctuated with flawless technical execution but never at the expense of heart felt pure artistry. This is a full live concert, an amazing 18 song set including two encores and not a flat spot, no fluff, no bland filler material, and not a bad note or beat from end to end. As a musician of over 40 years I have to say I have never been more excited about a band, nor thrilled with the content of their DVD. I also ordered their debiut CD. I have to wonder if their studio album can possibly be any better than this DVD. The tightness and chemistry of these guys is just amazing; they truly are a gift from God to those of us that enjoy and appreciate exceptional music.

Heartily recommend it.
One of the best concert DVDs I own. Great musicianship, technically superb and yet really accessible songs. I am a huge Steve Morse fan from Kansas days onwards (and backwards!), love Dream Theater and Spock's Beard and also knew the album so I expected to like it. What I wasn't quite expecting was that my wife (who is none of the above) also likes it a lot.Don't expect Dream Theater. But if you like good songs brilliantly paid I would recommend this.
