Panavise437 Heavy Duty Fixturing Head

Great for holding my wood carving. I use a hand held drum sander to rough out my wood carvings.

This device is very versatile ,especially when used with the Pana -vise heavy duty base.I use mine for holding model ships for assembly.When building a plank- on bulkhead model ship it is best to apply one or two planks on one side of the model, then add that same amount of planks to the other side.With the Pana- vise this is a simple matter of loosening the knob on the Vise base , then swiveling the ship to the other side.This method works well for me. I do some wood-carving. The Pana-vise setup is good for holding work-pieces rigidly for mallet carving.Over all the Pana- Vise is very useful for a number of tasks.With the devise one can mount the Pana-Vise bas on a piece of plywood a foot square or so .Then clamp the assembly to a sturdy table or bench.Then you can remove the Vise and base when not in use, freeing up work space on the work surface.The Vise is stronger than i expected.It appears to be some kind of alloy, not steel.It will stand up to a lot of use though.

That is excellent in its design.

This is a fine tool. I have bolted plumbing pipes and a floor flange to it that hold a clay head portrait I am working on. If I had known there is a similar fixturing head that is round in stead of rectangular I would have preferred it though.

This expands the usefulness of the heavy duty panavise and allows holding/fixturing that would be impossible with common home shop tools. Not for hammering but the flexibility is impressive and as you use it more applications will become evident.

Unfortunately, it's the only attachment available for the PanaVise 400. The 300 series has all sorts of attachments but they're all not compatible because they have a smaller diameter shaft. So in order to use any of the 300 attachments you have to make an adapter.

this tool is necessary to complete the PanaVise 400 Heavy Duty Base which I purchased to be able to carve with both hands. The item is valid.

I have this head and the vice and frankly for the size I am amazed how rigid they are. Very much worth the price. I have the vice mounted on a piece of wood and clamp it to my carving table. Works a treat.
