ChillGel The Original Cool Slumber Mattress Pad, Medium

I had doubts about this product but I was desperate. I live in MD and when the humidity is high I have a hard time going to sleep which is a problem that runs in my family. Although the A/C and fan help I need to decrease the temperature to the point that my wife freezes so... this is not an ideal solution and my power bill was huge.I searched the internet for a solution and this product came up. I purchased the large pad and I am so happy I did.It's hard to describe how this works but when I lay on the pad within 2 minutes I begin to feel the cold. The cold level is similar to wearing an ace bandage and applying ice over the bandage. The pad gets colder as your skin temperature increases. Within 10 minutes I stop thinking about the cold and my body temperature begins to fall. I place the pad under the mattress cover sheet so that it is less noticeable. The pad requires no maintenance. All you do is open the box and lay it on your bed.The first night I fell asleep very quickly and I had to turn down the A/C and the fan off in the middle of the night because I was cold!I love this product so much I purchased one for my mother and my wife is happy that I have stopped tossing and turning in bed.The only con I have is the the pad smells like baby power. I plan on washing the pad but I have not tried this yet. The other con my cats have found the pad a great place to sleep during the day. :-)

This thing is worth its weight in gold...for at least 3 hours.I am menopausal, plus I sleep on a memory foam mattress. I desperately needed something to keep me cool (in spite of the fact that my thermostat is set at 70 overnight). After seeing commercials about gel pillow pads, I researched and found this product.Overall, I like it. It is very cool and makes falling asleep easy. The issue is that after about 3 hours, it gets hot. I mean, it is hot to the touch. So I end up waking up and taking it off my bed. I decided to try fallng asleep without it (knowing I'd wake up hot in a few hours), and putting it on the bed in the middle of the night to help me fall back asleep. That worked...if you can call that working.I'm not disappointed in my purchase, I just wish the coolness lasted longer. At least now I'm not tossing and turning ALL NIGHT. I am getting more sleep with it.

If you are having a hot flash, it will cool you down unless you have been laying on it a while.After you have been laying on it a while, it warms to your body temp and will not cool you.When you first lay on it, it will make you cold unless you are in the middle of a hot flash.However, I sleep better with it than without it.Not perfect, but happy to have it.

I thought the item is better than others I tried. It really stood by it's name, meaning the mattress is really cool almost all of the time. At times it gets warm due to one body temperature. I am glad I purchased this item. This is a Godsend product. it helps me sleep better and cooler. I really think this product can be more upgraded and improved more.

When I woke up today, it almost felt wet at one spot from the cooling effect (even though completely dry). That was with it under one fitted sheet, so you might prefer a slightly thicker layer over it after giving it a try.In any case, it's amazing that it felt cool after lying on it all night! I would have thought body heat would have warmed it up by then.I was skeptical of the other "cooling" pads here that looked like they work simply by being puffy so they have more air content. I haven't tried them, so they might work great, but I had more confidence in something gel-filled, and this was significantly cheaper.Another factor for me was that I prefer a firmer bed, and didn't want something like memory foam. This is thin and doesn't compress, so it doesn't change the bed's firmness/softness level.I've only had it one night, so I can't speak to its durability yet, but it certainly does its job!

It does work for the first 30 minutes to hour in providing a cool sleeping surface, so it does help me go to sleep, but after a while 3 hours it gets too warm and I have to shift spots or throw the cover off again. As long as the ambient temperature of the room is cool it does the trick.

I tried this one night and have already UPS'd it back to Amazon. This pad feels cool at first but your body heat will warm up the gel to the point it feels like a heating pad. I had to remove it during the night. Hours later it was still warm laying on my floor. I now realize the whole Gel bed infused, layered, or pads is all a marketing scam that we need to avoid. I still would like to find an in-expensive way to avoid getting hot during the night. Any good ideas, let me know!!

I wanted to really love this!! When you first sleep on it, it feels amazing; however, after sleeping on it for 1 maybe 2 hours it starts to heat up and gets too hot. It actually conduct the head and amplifies it significantly to the point where your are 10 times hotter than if you never used it and almost makes it feel like your burning.I don't recommend this product to anyone who is looking to stay cool while sleeping. Now I'm back to hunting for a sleep cooling method!
