Lady Q: The Rise and Fall of a Latin Queen

Highly recommend!
Such a great read! I finished the book in 3 days because I was hooked on it and I didn't want to put it down. It makes you feel bad for Lady Q, all she wanted was to be loved and accepted by her family. Many youth turn to gangs to feel loved and accepted as well as for protection in a dangerous neighborhood. Such a shame that she didn't have the guidance and support as a young teenager looking for attention and support but her telling her story so that many other young females can avoid going down the same path. Lady Q sharing her story is brave and hopefully it inspires other young ladies to let them know that they have options and they can be successful if they stay away from the negativity in their neighborhood. I bought another book by the author because I needed to read all the books he wrote- it was awesome!

Good but repetitive
Although the book was good and was well written the issues that Lady Q continued to experience went continuously around in a vicious cycle. In some ways this proved to show you how the gang lifestyle would suck you back in over and over while in others it made you wonder why she wouldn't realize this and break away. I understand that she never knew any different but yet I find it hard that there was no way for her to reach out if she really wanted free. My heart hurts for her for the things she went through and also for her kids. Growing up in that environment had to be hard but every day is a step towards better. I hope she is doing well now.

Real
All I can say is this book is real. If you're considering a life of crime and gang life this is a good book to read before you make that commitment to whatever neighborhood you think is different. Whether California, New York, or Chicago, all neighborhoods are the same in the end, cruel.

Lady Q
I have read this book before when I was a teenager, it is one of the best books I have ever read. This time around I finished it in a day and half. Like before I couldn’t put it down! You can’t help but feel like you are there with her... living it all.

This book is incredibly good, incredibly sad
Wow. This book is incredibly good, incredibly sad, and incredibly moving. I cried, I laughed, I got angry ... I had a whole mix of emotions. This book is a must read for any girl who thinks that Chicago street gangs are glamorous. The book is not well written (grammar wise) but I think this is deliberate. The lingo used makes it more believable and fits the context.I highly recommend it.

Amazing and really inspiring.
Amazing and really inspiring. I live in the same area that Sonia was a gang member and a lot has changed but these gangs are still out there and everyone should read this book. I love it and it shed a lot of light on how gangs are looked at in Chicago. This book is a 5 or 5 rating in my opinion. I would recommend it to young teenage readers to show how life really is and why the streets shouldn't be an option.

If you can relate to the title it's a must read.
Good read. Being from Chicago and growing up at this time I thought it was accurate and pretty straight forward. I probably enjoyed it more because I'm from the area but for anyone who came up knowing characters like the ones portrayed in the book it will touch you. Therapeutic read.
