Double Row Flea Comb

Fantastic! Why
Fantastic! Why? Because it WORKS! If you are like us a rely on topical/ oral flea meds & shampoos then you may have had a hell of a year. Here in California the year without rain has left us with monster fleas, dry sandy gardens and nutty dogs being bitten on a regular basis. I ordered 2 of these because I was at my wits end getting the damn things under control and felt awful seeing my dogs suffer the irritation of fleas.I placed a towel on the ottoman and got a bowl of water with a bit of detergent in it (bubbles stop them jumping out and I think the detergent kills them anyway), laid the dog on one side and started at the head and combed without stopping all the way to the base of the tail, the comb picked up about 6 fleas on one long stroke! The comb is quite sharp so don't press too hard, just firmly enough to be against the skin. I keep paper towels beside me and wipe the comb every time I brush after rinsing it in the bowl. The fleas will get stuck inside the teeth but watch carefully and as they come to the edge tap the comb on your soap dish, they mostly fall into the water, or stick the whole comb in the water and rinse, then wipe it on the paper towel. Its a bit gross and messy BUT go methodically from spine to left or right depending on which side your dog is lying, then gently flip them to the other side (because the fleas will run and move to the area less disturbed). Do the other side then gently turn them on their back and check abdomen, under chin, under front legs, comb leg fur they hide there! and especially the area around the genitals and comb the tail on all sides. My dogs were a bit tense initially, but I hum quietly while I comb them and now when I do it they mostly just fall asleep on the towel :0)Truthfully you are NOT going to get every flea...but my dogs have been resting peacefully since I started using this comb and currently I do it every 3-4 days to try to break the cycle. I wash all the bedding on these days too and still use the shampoos to kill flea eggs etc. If you are like me and hate seeing your dogs suffer I hope this helps.

Just the most effective flea comb ever.
Just the most effective flea comb ever. For starters, I have four (4) cats. 2 long hair and 2 short hair (2 Ragdolls, a Scottish Fold and an Exotic Shorthair--but I digress). My senior cat came back from the vet with a little something "extra"... FLEAS! He's fifteen years old and this is the first time I've EVER had fleas in the house. Grrr. So I started off with Advantage, but I couldn't use the same stuff on my 5-lb Exotic. I've vacuumed and vacuumed the house, the patio, the garage. I bought this and one other single-row comb and tried them both. First, per instructions, I brushed out the cats (do you know how long it takes to catch and brush four resistant cats?). Then I combed them with a regular comb. Got some fleas both times, was feeling kinda smug at murdering the little bastards in soapy water. Then I used the other single-row flea comb. Got more fleas. More smugness ensued. Then I pulled out the big guns and hit all for cats with this double-barrelled baby of a flea comb. OMFG what a difference! Flea madness ensued until the cats ran for cover, they couldn't stand being harrassed with the Green Flea Comb of Death any more. I recommend this comb over all others. Be aware that it can be hard to get the fleas out of the space between the teeth, swish it in hot soapy water, let it soak a little to kill the fleas, then use a toothpick to clean the slot between the teeth. Careful! it's not hard to bend the teeth, which is not good for its efficiency.

Works really well! We have been trying to stay ...
Works really well! We have been trying to stay away from nasty flea products and so far the only natural things that have worked is apple cider vinegar and this double row flea comb!

Really good. Quick clean up, just pull the big ball of fur right off.
One of my cats is really easy to take care of, a little medicine and she's never had a flee. The other one, we give baths like twice a month and comb her, spray her sitting areas, bug bomb, everything. Nothing gets them off.But this comb really works, if you have the patience. And my cat doesn't fight it. I guess it feels similar to actual grooming, because even though it snags on the tangles of my cat's hair sometimes, she bares with it and keep leaning into it so I can brush her cheeks and neck. You just have to be diligent and do it often. It REALLY gets the flees out. Pull up big clouds of fur, fleas, and eggs. You can just pull it all off in a big ball with a single stroke and toss it away. Left my grungy fatty of a cat all fluffy and soft, too. She loves it. =3When I use flee medicine, the flees sometimes try to run up above my cat's neckline, and so I really find it important to have this handy to keep them out of her face.

I'd rather use this than expensive flea meds, works great!
I got this comb for my two indoor cats who seem to be contracting fleas out of nowhere. I also bought flea medication, which is very expensive and didn't even work that effectively. This comb is very effective so long as you cover every inch of your cat. The first time we combed them we got a couple dozen fleas and that was a couple weeks AFTER using a leading brand of flea medication. Weeks later, we combed them again because I had missed their legs the first time around and that's where the fleas had set up camp.I use a glass of warm water with 25% rubbing alcohol and dip the comb and wipe with a napkin between each swipe. The alcohol kills the fleas within a few seconds, you can see them sink to the bottom of the glass. If any survive or are on the napkin, seal the napkin in a ziploc bag so they don't just immediately jump back onto your pet.The comb is very effective at getting both fleas and eggs out of their fur. The only obstacle is getting your pet to cooperate, but we lucked out and have very chill cats. If you have fidgety cats my suggestion is to have someone hold them up by their armpits with their feet on the floor so they are standing tall. It's much easier this way than if they are standing on all fours. That way you can comb down the entire length of their body - and don't forget the legs, tail, and around their face.
