An excellent razor despite one flaw
I bought one of these back in October 2019 and have been using it to shave ever since. It's unquestionably been the best razor I've ever used. The only issue I have with it is the 'adjustability' which never worked brilliantly (in that it was easy to accidentally change) and, a few months back, stopped working altogether. I've continued to use the razor as it still works very well but it's a shame it's no longer adjustable as that was a useful feature and a major reason for me buying this particular razor.

new adjustable razor for 21st century
Qshave and Weishi joined forces in a kickstarter project to produce a new adjustable DE razor. The Weishi version uses the prototype head whereas this one is the next one up. The Pathanon black handled version has a knurled handle making for a good grip, the doors open and close smoothly and the weight is just about right. As far as razors go there's not a lot you can do to change anything from the vintage ones issued in the sixties and seventies, the only difference are the dimensions, at 115mm long and 14mm odd thick they are bit more substantial. The comparison drawn between the Weishi version and this one is the head, the face guard on the pathanon is slimmer and smooth as the Weishi is wider and combed, the result being the Qshave head has more blade exposure making it more aggressive. the number 1 setting does for fine hair, number 5 and it starts cutting in earnest, 6 7 8 9 I haven't tried that but I'm not chancing it, I only have one face (honest). The shave itself needs minimum pressure, the head glides along over the contours with a little steering practice, only 30o angle of attack is needed due to the aforementioned face guide depth, no clogging as others have reported. For the negative side there a couple of things that need changing, but they are not drastic. The adjustment dial at the top has knurling below the numbers, it should sit proud of the handle instead of flush, the knurled section could do with raising just a mm or two, fat fingers like mine find it a challenge to adjust while wet, the chrome makes it slip slightly. The laser etched numbers, Sorry guys but I can't see them unless in bright light with reading glasses on, as a model maker I have fine detail brushes, with a drop of acrylic paint, bright red, I can see them now. The twist to open dial has a neat magnet in the base, easy to pick up those sharp blades from where you've unwrapped them, this is smooth chrome, needs some knurling there on the bottom to improve grip. To sum up, the machining is up to standard for a 50 quid razor, it delivers the shave you want, just needs getting used to. In mine I use Astra superior platinum blades, 3 part preshave oil and Palmolive shave cream, with Nivea aftershave balm.I would recommend this razor for everyday use, kept clean and oiled with Muhle blade oil, hard water is a killer!

Best features - ability to adjust height and ease of replacing blades and a great shave!
I have been using a double bladed razor for about three years. My razor was a Mercur 34c. One of the best recommended razors for a beginner. And it’s been great. Would never go back to the multi blades. However was getting frustrated by not getting a closer shave now I am more experienced and having a two piece to replace the blades was just a bit annoying. Just a bit of faff I don’t need in the mornings. So searched the internet for a one piece with adjustable blade height. Not many around which I thought was strange. Came upon this make and this new version seemed to be the best out there. So tried it.So glad I did. It’s perfect.1. It’s so easy to replace the blades. Just unscrew the bottom put the blade in and then screw up. Perfect.2. Adjustability - experimented a bit and settled on level three and it’s the best shave in 3 years. Over the coming days will experiment a bit more. But just fantastic.3. Feel - just the right weight and a bit longer than my Mercur which feels so much better. Didn’t need to push hard just glided over my skin.Points to watch - you just need to get the balance between the number required for the blade and the tightness at the bottom. It’s a bit like a brake and an accelerator. Within 2 minutes it’s second nature. If that makes sense.I think this is the perfect razor for beginners and those who are more experienced.

Good
Really good to use. Just as good as my mecure future. Only downfall is to adjust setting can be fiddely as handle seems to move up and down slightly.

Very Impressive Razor
Beautifully made razor that needs to be used carefully for the first few tries but when you stop trying to be "Charlie Big Time" using it on the highest setting & turn it to 2 or 3 it's excellent. The grip is much better than the silver version. The reported drainage problems have been solved & now it is the complete razor, well worth the money.

Really nice
A bit expensive, but worth it! It has a nice weight to it. A nice non-slippy handle. Looks really stylish. Needs to be cleaned carefully, as there are a few nooks which can hide debris. The adjustment works well, but be careful to not set it too aggressive.
