Perfectly Engineered - a Delight to Use
I don't usually feel compelled to review products I buy, but this apply slicer was so well designed that I just had to. We have a few apply trees which looked like they'd yield 1-2 bushels of apples. We hadn't sprayed them, so some were good and some not so much. We were dreading the task of peeling, coring and slicing the apples, so ordered this product based on its already good reviews. When it arrived I saw that it was solid, well machined, and painted with green enamel. I was mystified by all the parts at first. The suction base attached firmly to our smooth countertop. So we tried first with a perfect Costco apple. At first I didn't see how the corer would work, so moved the responsible part out of the way. Perfect peel in about 5 seconds. Later I puzzled out how the corer/slicer function worked, so put it back in place, and in the second 5 seconds, the next apple was beautifully peeled, sliced and cored. It was amazing and delightful. And, fun. So my wife and I processed the apples from the trees in 3 batches, each batch about 30 apples. The peeling, slicing, coring was my job and took about 30 minutes, while my wife worked in parallel, cleaning the bad parts, and putting the sliced pieces in the cookpot. If an apple was VERY bad, the machine couldn't get a grip to process it. Otherwise, it performed flawlessly. It turned a tedious job into a fun one. After each run, cleaning the machine was just a matter of holding it under the faucet spray. No effort. We also have a tree of Bosc pears, so will be trying to adapt it for those. The shape will be the challenge. This product is so well made, I found myself thinking it must be German engineered. FWIW. Highest recommendation.

Its quick and easy! I assembled 8 apple crisps in no time ...
I recently came home from apple picking without a bushel of apples that needed to be processed right away. After spending a few hours chopping and coring apples for apple sauce by hand I thought there had to be another way!! This Apple Peeler and slicer is the answer! Its quick and easy! I assembled 8 apple crisps in no time thanks to this tool..after twirling the apples through the machine i just put one slice straight down the middle and bamb, perfect apple slices that fit nicely into a pie! Or perfect size for serving as a snack. You can adjust it so it does or doesn't peel the apple. Its sturdy, even suctions to the counter top or table so it wont slide around while you're working. I've also heard that it works well for spiral cutting potatos for some curly fries! Well worth the price. I'm happy.

An apple lathe?!
I don't know why I have this. I don't need to process dozens of apples at a time... but it *is* a neat tool. Its fun to watch it do it's thing, and the kids like the slinky apples it produces. I tried it on potatoes, but it had a hard time with all the lumps, and by the time you've done all the steps to use the tool, you would have been done with a traditional peeler. On apples, however, it's beautiful. The peeler skims over the smooth surface while the corer/slicer cuts through the apple with ease and it all works very well. I definitely couldn't do all the same things with an apple nearly as fast or as easily by hand. The tool is solidly constructed and I think it will last a long time, even for people who will use it a lot. The suction cup has excellent grip and wasn't prone to pop off randomly like some others will. The only thing that I've had a problem with is the tab that locks into the spiral on the shaft sometimes slips out, causing the apple to not advance past the peeler/corer. If I hold it down by hand it works OK. I haven't looked at it too hard, it might just need a little tweaking. Overall it's a good tool and it would be very helpful if you had to process a lot of apples. For general household use, it's just another random gadget, but that's fun too!

Got apples? Get this device!
I wish I had not hesitated so long to buy one. It does exactly what everyone else says it does. It peels without taking off too much of the apple or leaving behind any of the apple peel (except at the very top and very bottom for about a quarter inch). (The core and slice option without the peeling also works well if you choose to set it that way.) It slices the apple perfectly into one long spiral, so that you can either get easy rings or easy half rings with a swipe or two of your knife down one side or both. It worked well for both large apples and small apples. My only complaint would be that it was a bit of a pain to re-position the handle when it first came out of the box, and that it really does leave apple juice all over the place. Just accept before you begin that you're going to have apple juice everywhere and need to spend several minutes cleaning up your counter when you're finished. It is 20 times faster than a mandoline, and so much safer for your fingers. If you have reason to peel or slice a lot of apples, this is totally worth the money.

No Suction for No Reason
I have used a few different peelers and this one was the worst. It would not hold suction for more than about 10 seconds. I have quartz countertops so there is not reason it shouldn't have stuck, but it just wouldn't. I can assure you it was not user error either, I know how to use these things. I don't know if I got a dud or what, because most of the reviewers don't have this problem, which is why I bought this one. All in all, it made peeling a difficult task and I will be returning it and getting a different brand.

I was hoping for better!
This peeler is okay. It does peel the apples but takes off too much peel. It is adjustable but only to a certain degree so for me if took too much of the apple. . There are no instructions really.. only a diagram which wasn't very helpful. It did suction to the counter.

slice and core bunches of apples to can/freeze apple pie filling and LOVED it! Made quick fun work out of the ...
I used it to peel, slice and core bunches of apples to can/freeze apple pie filling and LOVED it! Made quick fun work out of the apples! It took a little while to get the system down pat, but once I did, it went extremely well. I had a few really big apples that were too big and they wouldn't core or peel, but that was the apples fault. Overall - great sturdy construction and had no problems with the suction working on my Formica countertop. Cleaned up easily and I just took apart to store back in the box. It left some skin on the apples, but I didn't mind that, it was minimal, and not all apples are perfectly shaped!

Saves a huge amount of work!
Works as expected. However, it does work much better if your apple is perfectly round. If there are flat spots or the lower part of the apple is not as round, the peeler will skip some spots. That can be helped by holding your finger against the peeler lever for a little bit of additional pressure. For very oddly shaped apples, you will have to peel some of it by hand. But, this little gadget still saves an enormous amount of work and time. It ships with the handle on backwards, so it will fit in the box. Otherwise, the box would have to be 3 inches longer. All you have to do is loosen the screw in the end of the handle, turn the handle around, and put the screw back in, which takes 2 minutes or less. The lever attached to the base is to provide the suction to the counter. After you position the peeler in the correct spot, flip the lever over to the other side. I have formica counters, and the base never moved while peeling 40 gallons of apples. I don't know if the suction is as good on other surfaces. I definitely agree that the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Just a few more sentences could help quite a bit.
