Powerful strategies
This is my second book on persuasion but by far the most fun to read. Nick really breaks down how the methods work & gives great analogies to help you understand better. I’m really looking forward to reading more from Nick

Keen Insights, Clever Examples, Neutral Presentation
The Neutral Presentation portion of the headline is a joke. A Master of Persuasion knows nothing that comes to you is neutral, not because of how the message is presented, but how we take it in. This book is practically complete in describing how people directly perceive/interpret the world. Knowing our mechanisms for understanding and learning, which is the basis for our decisions, educates us on how to make better decisions in our lives. But wait, increasing self-awareness will lead to increased understanding and consideration of others. This book presents the foundations and common ways that others activate their awareness and understanding... to hear your communications and respond to your requests. It shows us the research that we are in fact all the same, with consistent and unconscious reactions to our shared reality.Sure, this book is about how to get people to listen to your message and improve the positive responses to your requests. It also helps us discover how we self-sabotage our own abilities to succeed by not paying attention to how we and the people we talk to perceive the world and react to it.Engage life and others more fully, study this book (which is easy to follow) and learn the METHODS of Persuasion. "Methods of Persuasion" should be a required course in High School, start life as you begin to take responsibility for it with better understanding. Reflecting METHODS against your own life will help your realize your bad mistakes (choices and ineffective requests) that led you where you are and empower you to make better decisions in the future, if that's worth anything to you. Take the opportunity to consciously complete your unconscious internalization of these basic principals of communication.

Informative, Easy Read, Entertaining for what could be a dry subject
This easy read book is for those who want some really good ideas and understanding of the psychology to influence human behavior. It is not intended to teach people blatant manipulation in the dark sense. He has a 7 step method and what is entertaining is he uses the techniques in his text, then back tracks that. There are tons of references if you like that info.I would read more of his books.

I would start here
I've always been interested in persuasion. I've never heard of Nick Kolenda. Derren Brown is also an illusionist and I bought his (Derren's) book because he's one of the best known in the field. He gave away some of the "tricks" but I felt he held back the important ones. There's a series on BBC called Brain Games where they explain how the mind works and why we do the things we do. I think Methods of Persuasion ties all the concepts together and let's you see the wood for the trees. Never before did I realise that all forms of persuassion are really linked. Erroneous Zones, a really good self-help book, surprisingly overlaps Methods of Persuassion. Books on the art of cross-examination also overlap and, surprisingly, as a lawyer, I'd recommend Methods of Persuassion for lawyers looking to perfect their cross-examination technique before I'd recommend any of the "law" books directly on the topic. The author promises to be brief and concise. I thank him for being exactly that. Also, there's no voodoo. He de-mystifies what makes us do the things we do and how we in turn, can use those concepts to achieve our own sales, whether those 'sales' are getting that job, selling that product or convincing that judge. No doubt he made me do it - giving him five stars - but I think independently this book deserves them all.

impressive read
Great real world examples for how to use proven psychology in everyday situations. Nick uses foot notes to validate his theory. I’m looking forward to reading his next book on influence theory and human behavior.

One of the most fascinating books I have ever read
Interested in the psychology of persuasion? Seriously, look no further. Well written, fascinating, and eye-opening. This book is densely packed with incredibly useful information, condensed and colored and humanized in such a way that makes for an easy read, and keeps you guessing (and turning the pages). The citations are a appreciated, as I'm naturally skeptical, so I appreciate that so much of this book is grounded in real research. The humor and down-to-earth tone of the book is refreshing, as it doesn't take itself too seriously. Every chapter brings something new and interesting to the table, and everything gets wrapped up nicely. The only thing I would have wished for is for this book to have a hardcover option, as I would have gladly paid more to have a hardcover of this on my bookshelf. Here is me trying to persuade you, Nick (David W. et all, 2018). Well written, and kudos. You're a hero, and probably a wizard, too.

A Conversation Between You and Nick Kolenda
I researched psychology/persuasion books on Amazon for a long time before settling on Methods of Persuasion. The first factor was percentage of ratings so I don't waste my money or time. The positive reviews outnumbered the negative reviews by a huge margin (my minimum for a book purchase is 65% of reviews are 4+ Stars). The second factor was cost. If you're like me, a patient Amazon customer who doesn't satisfy that impulsive instant gratification purchase, then the prices will adjust and the purchase is worth it. At the time of purchase, the book was $7 and change. After finishing it, I think it's worth the amount I spent. This is a book written like a conversation between you and the author. I was dreading reading a textbook-ish book and I was happily surprised. It's well-written, organized and informative with (extensive) research to back up all the claims. Luckily, all research references aren't bogged down with unnecessary boring information. Plenty of real-world applications to keep you engaged and help you remember after you put the book down.

Simple and Clear
Nick uses a lot of references to support his statements ... it's simple to understand even if you don't have a techinical knowledge about persuasionI only missed a diagram or schema to summarize the concepts ending the book. I was expecting something like that and I did not take notes along my reading
