This is deffinitely worth trying out
This is deffinitely worth trying out if your an ultralight hiker.Everyone has that one thing they cant live without when visiting the wilderness. For some its coffee. For others its a heavy pillow item. For me, its always been my 2.2lb ultralight chair. I cant stand eating a meal sitting on the ground/stump/rock. I love lounging in my chair at the end of a day or on the top of a mountain. BUUUT, Its 2.2lb! Thats attrocious! When traveling for 7 or more days my food starts to get heavy so I leave the chair behind. I have several of my own ideas and plans to build a better, lighter camp chair for the ultralight market (My designs are top secret). But until then Im forced to use other peoples designs. So, I decided to purchase this tripod chair as a comprimise of weight and functionality. Its lighter, but I cant lean back and lounge. I will update this review after using it on the trail for a couple months. For now, I can only report on my first impressions out of the box. Some things to know:1.) Its 0.86lbs as advertised.2.) The seat height is exactly 16 1/4" which compresses down to 15 3/4" when sitting. This is the standard height of almost all regular chairs. This is quite a bit higher than most camp chairs. Its not really a good or bad thing, just different.3.) It packs down into a uniform shape without the need for a separate storage bag.4.) It has helpful pictoral instructions printed on the underside to aid in repacking. This was really only useful the first time, but hey it was nice of them to include that.5.) I only weigh 135lbs so I cant really attest to the strength of this chair. The product says its rated for 220lbs and it does feel like it could take that for "awhile". It does feel like the first part to fail would be the plastic hub each of the aluminum tubes are connected to. If your a heafty person, you'll just have to be brave and test it out.6.) The seat foot print is relatively small. (Although, I tried my best to wobble around and never felt like I would tip over. Even leaning my entire body backwards I couldnt make the front pegs lift off the ground. So if it ever does tip over it will tip sideways.)Summary:All around, this feels like a quality designed chair made with decent manufacuring standards. I cant wait to use it in the real world and provide an update to this review in 6 months. Perhaps I can even rig up part of my tent as the back portion to lean against. I'll let you know how it goes.Tip:If you want to shave the weight even further and widen the foot print, just cut a few inches off the bottom of each leg. Then pop the rubber feet back on. Your chair will be shorter, lighter, and have a wider stance making it more stable. You might even explore the idea of some alternative rubber feet that have wider disc like properties that wont sink into the dirt as much.

Not usable, does let one down on day 1. Poor quality control!
First day out in the field, in the rainforest and on Pacific sand dunes, one rubber foot cover went missing. The remaining 2 are impossible to pull off by hand. Why was the third one not similarly fastened? I wonder.Simple manufacturer's mistake, lack of quality control. And of course I am miles away from civilization and have no source for superglue ... here. Fun, fast use equipment for public camping sites only, no good for ultimate travels. Urban cowboy gear in my eyes. DO NOT buy or attempt to use seriously.Useless to buy as there are no replacement rubber covers (other than possibly at Home Depot Lowe's stores). Otherwise the chair is wonderful. And could be useful if it were usable here. BAD BUY!

Excellent chair but wish quality control caught the ripped seam on the out cover.
I purchased this for hiking and general travel due to its compact size and weight (of course the reviews too). It's a great tripod seat when you need a simple chair to take the weight off your legs when no other suitable place to sit is available. It's not a tall seat but at 5'9" and 30" inseam it's a comfortable but low chair. The weight is ideal when weight is an issue. It's sturdy for my 200 lbs but it requires you to actively balance yourself like every other chair in this category. So I really like this chair and highly recommend it. I've used it many times now (2 months of use) and I even started to use it while flyfishing and can easily put it in the back pocket of my fly vest and never notice the weight. My only issue and why I can't give it a 5 star is that it came with the outer cover ripped on the seam. This doesn't matter to the chair's function or strength. I (and probably you too) expect quality control to catch that.

A beautiful, lightweight, functional product
Everything about this chair is wonderfully designed. It's magically light, very rugged, and extremely functional.Light and compact enough that you can pack it away and never notice it. Great touch that the pouch you fold it away into is sewn into the seat itself. I am a fan.The one wrinkle (I would in no way call this a "Con") is that there is a learning curve in knowing how to assemble/disassemble: You have to apply some weight on tips of the poles in order to get seat cover onto the 3rd pole.

It takes a little muscle
Pretty hard to assemble as in it's difficult to stretch the seat to fit the last/third prong.

I AM LOVING THIS CHAIR
I am so impressed with this travel chair! Not only is it light and easy to stow in my purse, it is surprisingly sturdy and comfortable. I thought my posture may suffer, but that is not the case. I can sit straight with zero strain on my lower back. This thing is LEGIT. Durable materials, easy to put together and fold up. Please follow directions...I tried to wing it, but the order in which you pop in the legs into the seat does matter. Even though they are super simple and seem elementary, still follow them. Once I did it per instructions I was able to cop a squat with ease.

Compact and light backpacking chair
Pros:* very lightweight (weighted mine - 400g/14.1oz)* compact when folded (a bit taller than a 16oz water bottle, thinner than one) - will fit a water holder* works well close to (or a bit over) the rated weight limit* quicker to setup and to pack than other brands of ultralight chairsCons:* needs a bit of finger strength (or proper technique) to get the seat attached to the poles* small footprint - need to be mindful on where you put it on the ground - to be even and not sink in it.* like with any tripod chair, your behind may get numb after a while

Don't bother buying this.
The seat doesn't fit the frame. The materials seem to be of good quality but the seat cannot be placed on the frame. It is much to small. The seller wrote after my purchase, uging me to ask questions and leave feedback, but he never replied to my complaint, hence this negative review. I should have reuturned it but I thought I could make a bew seat for the frame. It is a real hassle..
