TERRIFIC INSIGHT TO A GREAT PERSON
I thought I knew a lot about Payne Stewart. I knew he played on the Asian Tiyr and he also liked to play practical jokes. Some people thought he had a bad attitude at times, don't we all? As a top professional athlete you live under the microscope. A lot of us wonder what a person was like before he became so famous. Tracey Stewart retells about her life with a wonderfully unique person. It must be difficult to write about someone you love who had so much to live for, someone snatched away from you forever.Like many athlete-biographies, there are sections about Payne's early prowess and his loving relationship with his father, especially through their mutual love for the game. Their relationship echos so many of the wonderful father-son feelings that develop over a round of golf.Payne was a thrilling personality in professional golf and like many professional golfers, gave a lot of their time and financial support to the community. In this book you read about so many people whose lives were touched by Payne and how they came together to support Tracey and to continue Payne's legacy after he died.Every golf reader should keep this book on the shelf with the biographies of other golfers. I think you'll see the similarities of what it takes to be a truly wonderful person and another fine ambassador of the game of golf.

Unbelievable
I was shocked. This was a fantastic read. Well written, very enlightening. I couldn't wait to get back to reading it. Tracey Stewart did amazing job of allowing me to see aside of Payne that I did not know existed. He was truly a super star golfer and tremendous father. ( Sure do miss seeing his swing)

Poignant story
Nice simple read yet poignant story beyond golf. Tracey Stewart reminds us how a true partner and a desire to be a better person offers a wonderful journey for all of us.

Whiff, Scooter and Chuck-o
This book is a bout golf. I never played golf in real life but I hit a few balls as a teen ager and teed off on a driving range at 21. I could enjoy the book from the perspective of PGA Golf a game that came with my COMPAQ 4770 in 1997. I watched TV and I played the game to understand the rules and the lies. Then as I was reading the Air Combat Command's magazine I found the TV news item about a Learjet with iced up windows being pursued by F-16's. When I flew my Lear in Microsoft simulator to substantiate what I knew about the C-9 worlwide operations I let ti cruise climb to 50,000 feet. Oxygen is something germaine to TACAIR pilots but not necessarily to E-4 Command Post pilots. The stories about core locks came later. My title? Oh! that is just some Mercedes Benz 350SL owners I knew and teh co-inventor of the Lift-Systems incorporated coaxial private helicopter.

This is an excellent book, well written, and gives a really good picture of his life. An excellent book to pass along to others.

Payne Stewart
Folks I need to give you a little background. I'm a 60 y/o male that loves golf.... I've just started reading while away on vacation and this year bought our 2nd Kindle. (Bought one for my wife last year) I don't consider my self "well read" or able to suggest certain books to people. Some of these golfers I read about I've seen play in person and I have personally met. So to delve into their lives is interesting to me... Sorry I cannot be more specific but I am not a book worm with opinions others would relish...but thanks for asking....Be well

Worth reading
As a golfer this gives great insight in to Payne Stewart's golf, but this is a book about much more than golf ... Truly inspirational and a reminder that we must all keep our focus on what's important in life.

Nice, but a bit to sweet
A nice view on Payne, allthough a bit sweet to my taste - Everything, allmost, is shiny and happy, allthough most marriages isn't allways and most of the obstacles in his golflife is diminished and I would think there have been some major dissapointments that hasn't been easy to comprehend/swallow. But I recommend the book as a good and easy read, especialy concerning his wins and Ryder Cup appearences and the fact that he was a bit of center stage party dude ;-)

Sadly missed
A good look back at someone who was one of my favourite sportsmen, taken away far too early.Although the importance of Payne's faith was clearly an important part of his life, and success, I thought there was a little too much emphasis on Biblical extracts at times in the book.I hope Payne is now happily striding a heavenly fairway, perhaps in the company of Severiano Ballesteros!

Not the best Autobiography I have read
Not the best Autobiography I have read. I got a little bit fed up with hearing about how many good friends the couple had.
