Lance Fly Fishing Rod

The Greys Lance rod is a nice balance for fishers looking for a quality 5 wt without breaking the bank. It’s thin and light for its weight class, and it seems likely that Greys used high quality carbon fiber stock to build it. While this isn't mind-blowing for the price range, I appreciate them not cutting corners on material selection/sourcing. This compares favorably to some other budget offerings I've seen from big brands who often keep premium trim while shipping low-end stock. The rod's action is as advertised—medium-fast. I've used it successfuly with both WF4F and WF5F lines, and it performed smoothly with each as one would expect. It’s responsive and delivers a good balance of power and finesse, which is crucial in a rod like this. There are some compromises in the build. The single-footed guides are acceptable, but personally, I would have preferred snake guides for added durability and snag-reduction. This isn’t a dealbreaker for everyone, but it’s one of those things that separates this rod from more expensive models. Overall, this rod sits in an interesting spot between value imports you can find on Amazon and mid-range trims from domestic brands. It’s definitely a step up from the cheaper options in terms of performance, weight, and material quality, but it doesn’t quite reach the level of refinement you’d get with pricier rods. That said, for many anglers, the the Lance might hit the sweet spot. The great action and lightweight design offer plenty of value, especially if you’re willing to live with the few compromises in the build. At its price point, it’s a solid option.

For a single-handed rod, it is great at this price. First of all, the design is sleek and it looks high-tech. It is very lightweight and has a good balance to it. There is a lifetime warranty on Lance series, so that’s definitely something to consider. I adore the case - it is very easy to store the rod inside and not risk it getting snapped into parts on the road. Also, very convenient to transport! Overall, I think it is a good choice.

I wanted a 5# rod to add to my collection and thought I would give this a try. The big names companies have just gotten ridiculous with their prices. It comes in a great case and everything is top notch quality. A nice finish on the rod, along with a beautiful cork grip. I like how far the sections interlock with each other. It seems like it has to make it work more like a single unit. I was surprised at the diameter of the sections. It looks like a lighter rod than a couple of older 4# rods I have. It definitely has some backbone on it and I would agree with the medium fast rating. Sweet little rod.

I have not used this rod yet. With that said, I ordered this because my brother, who is really into fly fishing, said this is a great rod. From what I can tell by taking it out of the package, this rod is made with quality material that is built to last. I'm a beginner so this will be an amazing starting rod for me.

Great looking rod, but it's not fly season, so I'll rereview in the Spring. For now, there are solid 1.5-2" overlapped connection points, an AWESOME travel case (especially for these delicate rods) and it looks GREAT. I cannot wait to use this! Now I can bring a friend too and let them use my old rod.

This is a great Fly Rod with Case and is exactly as the Product Page described. It seems to be made of High Quality Materials and has been working great for me. I'm happy with it and do recommend it.

This fly rod seems to be top quality and a great value compared to many other brands. I like the carrying case too.
