The Hombix Expandable Dining Table turned out to be an outstanding purchase. Assembly was a breeze thanks to the simple, well‑written instructions. Once put together, the quality really stood out — the materials feel premium, the mechanism is smooth, and the table looks fantastic in my space. It’s versatile, functional, and absolutely worth the investment.

This is honestly a tough one to review because now that it is fully assembled and sitting in my house, I absolutely love it. It looks great, feels solid, and the functionality is exactly what we needed for our new house. We do not really have a dedicated dining area, so having a table that can stay compact most of the time but expand when family or friends come over is perfect for us. The expandable design is genuinely very cool, and once put together it feels sturdy and works well. I added rubber feet to help keep it from sliding when expanding the table and then it pulls out nice and smoothly. Even expanded, it feels stable. If I were reviewing only the finished product, this would easily be a 5-star item. Unfortunately, getting to that point was an absolute nightmare. The product description claiming this can be assembled in 15 minutes is completely unrealistic. You probably cannot even unpack all the pieces in 15 minutes. This thing arrives in what feels like 5,000 separate parts, and assembly took me at least 3 hours working alone. There are a ton of steps, and you have to pay very close attention because if you miss something, you end up having to undo large portions of the build to fix it. To make matters worse, one of the leafs arrived damaged and my package was missing one unique hardware piece - even after raiding the spare parts bag for the 2 extras. Since we are in the middle of moving into our new house, leaving this half assembled for weeks while waiting for replacement hardware was not an option. I ended up studying the instructions, figuring out which piece seemed least critical structurally, and borrowing that piece from another section so I could finish the build. Thankfully it has held up fine so far, but that should never have been necessary. The worst part of assembly by far was installing the heavy sliding expansion brackets. They are awkward and surprisingly heavy, and you basically have to hold them up with one hand while trying to secure tiny screws with the other. I felt like a mechanic working under a car but without a hoist. A magnetic screwdriver would have helped tremendously, but I did not have one. I probably spent 30 minutes on those two parts alone while questioning all my life choices. Also worth mentioning - the box is HUGE and extremely heavy at around 135 pounds. Do not attempt this alone unless you absolutely have to. What frustrates me most is that I specifically chose this version over a cheaper identical table from another seller because this listing advertised the top as "pre-assembled" with only minimal setup required (15 minutes!!!). That was absolutely not the case and honestly feels like false advertising. In the end, I really do love the table itself. It is functional, attractive, and exactly what we wanted. But the brutal assembly process, missing hardware, and misleading product description force me to knock off two stars. If half-star ratings existed, this would probably land around a 2.5 to 3-star experience overall.

Item came one week early. Assembly took one person 5 hours, but was not difficult. Be sure to put the twist locks onto the bolts as you go, not in a later step, as with most such assemblies. The instructions do not tell you this. The metal sliding apparatus is already assembled and oiled, and works nicely. The whole table is sturdier than I expected when finished.

Let me first say that putting it together was not an easy feat, took a couple hours of two men. also we were short two screws. But, once together it was perfect fit for a holiday gathering of 10 and we didn’t even use all the inserts. One disappointment is once you close it and put the inserts inside, they don’t stay up straight. So from the outside it looks a little odd but not a huge thing. It’s very stylish and very stable. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for flexibility and seating.

I love this table. Works as it says. I did have one board that was cracked, I sent pics of it with the specific piece number and a new part was shipped. Great for holidays with extra family members when you need the table space. Makes a great living room lamp table when all tucked away.

I was pleasantly surprised. Sturdier than I thought it would be. It’s pretty nice! I took my time and assembled it by myself. The instructions could be better but it was pretty easy when you figured it out. Putting the hardware with each assembly before you assemble makes it go faster. Too heavy to lift upright by myself but the hubby helped. Really came in handy at Thanksgiving. Everyone had a place to sit. Then we closed it up and slid it out of the way.

It might hold 12 people if they are all not 275 pounders. Otherwise it's probably best for 10 people. Mine says a bit in the middle if opened less than the full distance where the center support does not position in the middle of table. Since it is made of strand board you don't have much error for assembly because the connectors have difficulty holding upon removal & reinstallment. Overall for the price (doing self assembly) It is a good deal for the price. Plus the seller is good to deal with when problems arise

Nicer than I expected. Heavy but fairly easy to put together. Such a useful style for those of us who don’t like traditional dining rooms. Bought for Thanksgiving and can’t wait to have us all at the same table rather than various tables put together or nearby. I can’t speak to longevity since I just got it but I am hopeful it will be good for larger gatherings to come. Note: mostly need a screwdriver but recommend if you have a drill might be better when adding the metal sliders which we did
