This heat exchanger works very well, and I could detect no leaks between the 2 sections. The 1/2" hose barbs are easy to connect to my chiller, and I love the included hose clamps which can be installed or removed using just my hands, no tools required. The build quality is very good, and this should work well for anyone looking to cool down some liquids. The only issue I found with mine was a prodigious amount of copper-colored "overspray" from something on the hose barbs and the body of the exchanger (see photo). It looks like it had been painted with copper-colored paint or something. I ended up cleaning off the hose barbs with some 0000-steel wool, which seemed to work well. The issue is mostly cosmetic, but I didn't want to take the chance of whatever the substance was getting into the lines, so I thought cleaning it off was a good idea. Functionally, though, it works great, and for the price, I think it's a great deal. 4 stars.

This is a nice upgrade from an immersion chiller. I like that it has integrated barb fittings for convenience. All the connections use the same 3/8" ID tubing and it comes with adjustable O clamps. This is ready to go right out of the box. I tested the heat exchange capacity using water, the tap temperature was 71F and I saw a 41 degree variance at a high flow.
