There are only 2 chain link thicknesses 1/8" & 3/32". 1/8' is for bikes with 1 rear wheel gear. 3/32" is for multiple gears. All replacement chains come with 116 links & a master link. Count the number of links on the old chain & match the new chain to that. You will need to remove 1 or more links to match. Purchase a chain link remover or carefully cut off excess links with a Dremel rotary cutting wheel. Use the appropriate size punch to remove the pin.

Will this fit a Schwinn 21 speed?

I assume you haave a 7 speed cassette. The chain will fit however you will have to match the size (remove links) to your old chain.

How do you disassemble the chain

press the two chain links ends toward each other in a pinching manner, which will put pressure across the master links laterally.
