HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book! Everything you need to know about Gluten Free eating!
Well written, loaded with helpful tips! This book covers gluten-related disorders from symptoms, prevalence, diagnosis and treatment. It includes detailed information about ingredients and foods that are allowed, those to question and those to avoid. The controversy about oats is discussed in one chapter with another chapter on alcoholic beverages. There is a strong focus on nutrition and healthy eating throughout the book. It features nutrition concerns for those on a gluten-free diet with practical management strategies. Plus, there are meal plans and delicious recipes using healthy ingredients, nutritional analysis per serving, and cooking and baking information. The chapter on the gluten-free grains, legumes, seeds and starches is so informative. Lots of great tips on shopping and how to prevent cross contamination at home, when eating out and traveling. The chapter on labeling is absolutely outstanding and helps reduce confusion on this subject. The author explains ingredient lists, precautionary statements, and gluten-free claims/symbols and certification. Plus allergen, gluten and alcohol labeling in the US (FDA, USDA, TTB) and Canada. Although labeling and regulations can be a very overwhelming, it is written in a very organized and easy to understand manner featuring many useful charts. Another excellent chapter is the one that clearly explains gluten threshold levels, parts per million, gluten testing and amount of gluten in foods. There is a very extensive chapter that includes thousands of gluten-free products organized by categories such as cereals/granola, snacks, baking mixings, flours, starches/gums, grains, sides dishes, pasta, pizza, broths/soups, sauces and beer listed by company and product name. This is followed by a directory of companies with their contact information and the items they produce. It was very helpful to see recommended resources (books, magazines, cookbooks, travel, websites, articles and references) included in the book. Overall, a comprehensive reference for both the professional and the consumer!

High review points for Shelley Case's new book. A MUST read.
This is most through and extensive book on living in a gluten free world I've read. I've had celiac disease for over 30 years and was a leader for a support group for many years and this book answers all the questions and explains the "how's" and "why's" of celiac disease and how to live a healthy life gluten free. Every newly diagnosed person, every dietician and GI doctor should have this book on their shelves. I wish I had had a resource like this 30 years ago. Even if you've read all the books you care to read about this topic, this one is a must. Add Shelley's book to your library too.

This Gluten-Free book is a MUST have!
This is an excellent update from the previous version I bought many years ago. Shelley includes everything from a product & company directory to recipes & meal plans. She provides evidence-based nutrition information which is crucial for patients & clinicians. This is the perfect book for anyone with Celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders. As a Registered Dietitian, I recommend this book to patients & utilize it myself as someone with Celiac Disease. There is much misinformation out there on the gluten-free diet. This is a resource that provides accurate & up-to-date information. I highly recommend it!

Always on my bookshelf
No better resource for those of us with celiac disease or gluten allergy or intolerance. I have had a current copy since Ms Case first started publishing these books. This is my go to reference for managing my diet. I never doubt that the contents are credible & well researched. I will never be without a copy nor should you if you face these health issues which require dietary modifications.
