The DVD currently being sold on Amazon that is being listed as a Australia import is a pirated vhs rip.It has tracking lines, drops in frame rate and static all kinds of stuff . It is not in any way a legitimate copy.

If I could give no stars that would be accurate but since I have to give one it's getting just one star. I got this movie for my husband who's been looking hard to find it. It's a childhood fav of his. Thought I had finally found it for him on Amazon. However after receiving it and putting it in the dvd player quickly realized this is a pirated bootleg VHS rip. This is horrible quality, horrible sound, horrible artwork on the case cover and dvd itself. It had tracking lines and jumped and skipped parts. I've seen better bootleg copies made in the theater than this. I paid $12 for this, extremely disappointed in what my money got me. Very disappointed in Amazon for listing and selling this on their website. I love Amazon and usually get great products but this was not at all what I expected. I really wish I had read the other reviews before I bought it because I would've never bought it if I had. It was disappointing seeing my husband disappointed. I am returning this immediately and will continue to look elsewhere for this movie. So buyer beware before purchasing this make sure to skim through the reviews, you will see it's not the actual dvd. I would not recommend buying this at all.

This is a tricky product to review. I bought the new DVD being sold by 'Amazon' directly and not a 3rd party seller to hopefully make sure I get a legitimate copy. First thing to realize about this DVD is that it was created in Australia, so their DVD standards may be different than what we typically see in the USA. The cover is on the lower quality end and the disc art is just a low quality black and white image of the ying/yang image on the front. The disc art is at least printed on and not a cheap peel-and-stick label. What's going to separate this legitimate copy from bootlegs is the DVD Menu. Good effort was actually put in to design a quality menu and all 8 scene selections [chapters] have an image displayed. Although 8 chapters is on the low end for a typical movie, they make sense and work. Now, to the quality of the movie itself, I am pretty sure this is the best quality of the movie you can find anywhere. It is still probably not up-to-par for usual DVDs, as this is still full frame instead of widescreen, but it certainly looks better than any VHS copy would. I hope one day to see a widescreen release of this movie, but if that day never comes, you can be sure this product is the best quality available.

Sooooo.... The DVD quality is really terrible as it was ripped straight from VHS. You can see the track lines at the bottom of the screen throughout the whole movie. Certain parts of the movie you can also see where the burning process of the DVD froze up a bit which causes it to have little skips and the characters move weird. The sound quality is also atrocious as any of the fight scenes are super loud!!! I usually have my TV volume set to around 30 but with this DVD I had to have it at 16 not to blast our ears off.That being said though I do not regret this purchase one bit as it is the only way to get to watch a movie I absolutely loved as a kid. My husband was super excited as well when he found out I had bought this as he loved it just as much as I did as a kid. Plus being huge fans of Mako as Uncle Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender made us tear up hearing his voice while watching this movie.Best I can say is if you want a fun nostalgic experience of a movie that was fun to watch on TV in the 90’s you won’t be disappointed at all.

This looks like someone dubbed it from VHS to DVD. It has the horizontal "noise" disturbance lines across it like one used to get watching a vhs that wasn't tracking correctly. I purchased it for my grandson, who only just now tried to watch it. Of course it is 8 days after return window. So I have ordered from another source, perhaps they will provide a better quality.

I did receive the correct movie from the seller however the quality made it unwatchable. I watched better bootleg copies in Iraq then this. It was a huge disappointment as the movie is hard to find. In summary you+this movie= bad idea!

This movie was one of my FAVORITES, and still is! Jonathan was the teenage heartthrob *I* looked up to in my teens. I found this movie to be SO inspirational even back then. I think that a lot of teenagers can identify with Jonathan’s character “Barry Gabrewski”... getting bullied, fantasize about their hero helping them destroy their tormentors. I don’t know about these days with the internet and not being able to escape bullying, but it was the kind of thing that helped ME through years of being bullied at school in the 80s &90s. I HIGHLY recommend this movie!!!

Got this for my wife who had been a huge Jonathan Brand is fan since she was in elementary. She was so excited I found this for her. Then we get it, come to find out it won't play in any of our devices. It never described in the details that it was not in our region and was shipped from here in the US. So I was pretty upset that she has it and now she can not enjoy it. She found the full movie on YouTube but it's just not the same for her.

I thought this film was good but I wasn't keen on all the daydreaming sequences I thought there was a bit too much of that ,The picture took a few minutes at the start to become clear to watch and went again just as it was finishing ,took 3 days to arrive thanks .

I first saw this film when I was really young and I have been trying to track it down for years since. When it came up on Amazon I was overjoyed and nearly fell off my seat in shock!Chuck Norris is a brilliant lead actor and this is an all round good family film. A film where you wish you were the kid.
