Easy to follow along!
Great way to learn about the Bible with family. Easy to follow along. My teenager enjoys our dinner table talk. Helps start a conversation about God.

Excellent for family discussions
I love the ease of using this book. It has a main read that isn’t too long and is short, then discussion starters and other verses to look up to go along with the lesson. It got my family talking about The Word at the table which is always a blessing!

Spiritual nutrition
I read reviews before purchase Abd agree that this study is not for young children. The topics encourage discussion and are great for that and for all ages. Sometimes you just need to skip parts that done work for your situation or family. The suggested readings are helpful too for digging deeper. If you start this before dinner, your food will get cold!

Wide ranging variety and function/adaptability; gospel centerd usefulness:)
This devotional is a bit more basic and shorter than we are used to. However, the variety of questions can be used and adapted into a very profitable devotional tool that can enrich your interaction both with younger and older kids (10-18 for us). The readings are well thought out, and even when you disagree with the exposition or conclusion, there is great opportunity for discussion. Since it flows fairly quick to the questions, one can really add as necessary to the time spent in conversation and discipleship. It starts out with several quick scripture readings and then provides a related life lesson to consider. No need to worry about marking your location since it is dated for the entire year. Also, as you develop the conversation, there's room on the pages to jot down additional thoughts and questions. Great investment! No excuse now, just do it:)

Perfect meal devotions
Just the right amount of information for a dinner discussion. Points brought up were unique and ways of looking at scripture that I’ve never considered.

Great choice for family devotions
This is just what I was looking for to read with elementary age children. They are short and quick with catchy titles. Each devotion incorporates scripture, as well as real-life examples/applications and thought-provoking discussion questions. The content is straight-forward and biblical, doesn't appear to be contaminated with any particular political or cultural ideology. Occasionally I might have a slightly different theological viewpoint than the author but this just adds to the discussion. (For a reference point, I am coming from a non-denominational, bible-believing but NOT conservative or fundamentalist Christian background.)I would recommend for ages 7 through adult, although a highly verbal 5 or 6 year old might get something out of it too.

For an older audience
I bought this book with the anticipation of sharing these dinner devotionals with my three sons, ages 8,13 and 16. While many devotionals are appropriate, there are several that would be more appropriate for an older audience with topics such as adultry, burning in hell, etc. So, I can't let my children automatically go to today's date and lead the devotional. Instead, I read first and verbally edit as needed. Several of my friends have this book and feel the same as I do. When the topic is kid-friendly, the book does begin great discussions, prayer and family interaction.
