Works very well, even in Linux!
Nice easy to use and GUESS WHAT? Works on Linux too! Took some doing on Ubuntu but I got there, so here is for anyone that wants to use under linux, then :Run Terminal,run this to install V4L:sudo apt-get install v4l-utilsthen to use in mplayer for instance, run this:mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:audiorate=48000:immediatemode=0:forceaudio:alsa:adevice=hw.1:buffersize=64Id recommend OBS for capture, but MPlayer work ok with plugins.

Video Problems.
Have set this up on 2 different PC's and 2 different VCR's but still can't get rid of the video "jumping" problem, no settings in the software seem to affect it and Honestech won't support it due to their software being used by a third party, to be honest the software isn't the problem as I also get "jumping" when playing back through VLC player. The problem seems to definitely be the video capture unit, would not recommend.

Works - but image quality is very poor.
Sadly, having bought 3 different VHS to laptop converters, I realise that "inexpensive" can also mean useless. It works - but the quality is terrible. I finally bought a used DVD writer that transfers the VHS directly to DVD. I suggest others do the same.....

Dont buy
Don'y buy this. It convets your vhs videoas into tiny 352x288 videos thus losing 50% quality on wmv files, but does do 720 x 576 in mpeg format. The screen display of the video did work but doesn't now. Tried replacing the drivers, didn't fix.

DOES NOT WORK !!!!
This device is useless and is not compatible with windows 10. It is not recognised by the software supplied with it or by any other video capture software. Clearly the drivers are not present or not the correct version. The seller suggested another download for the software but it was identical to the first and also did not work. Complete waste of time and money.

Job well done
Once I managed to find the correct cable for my camera I was able to easily transfer the mini DV tapes and all my old VHS tapes to my Mac. I am very happy.
