When my Dell Optiplex 760 with the Small Form Factor (SFF) case suddenly wouldn't start, several online searches revealed that the power supplies (PS) on these computers fail often. I followed the troubleshooting procedure: 1) disconnect all external connections (including power) and open the case, 2) disconnect all 4 of the PS connections inside the computer, and 3) with the power cord connected to the PS, press the reset button on the back of the PS to see if the adjacent green light comes on. If it doesn't the PS is bad. I also learned that these PS are proprietary to Dell, so even similarly sized generic TFX PS require modification to work with the Dell motherboard. Ordered this PS from Amazon and it arrived promptly as advertised. This PS is a direct plug compatible replacement. Installed the new PS (3 screws and 4 plugs) and the computer works again. One of the reviews mentions loud fans. These computers have three fans: 1 in the PS, 1 for the CPU and 1 for the hard drive. When you first start the computer all 3 of the fans start on high and together they are loud, but this stops after a few seconds. The PS fan is quiet in normal operation.

Exact fit for my PC

It worked great. My only concern is, these power supplies all come from China, which automatically means, they will fail rather quickly. I put this into somebody else's computer. I'm dreading the day they call and say, it's dead again.

A good price and it was received sooner than promised.The power supply in one of my computers had gone out. Installation was simple and got me up and running again.

Computer will not star. Suspected power supply failure. Took computer to get check and confirm. Order power supply. Installed in less than 10 minutes. Started right up. It has been working just fine.

A power supply in one of our six year-old Optiplex 990 machines had to be replaced. This unit was a perfect match to the original PS, in terms of size and specs printed on the sticker. However, in less than seven months, it started emitting a burning smell and blew out, luckily before taking down any other components in the process. Will see how long the next one lasts...

My Dell Optiplex 960 that I had for years finally went down a few days ago. Each time I would try to turn on the unit I would get the numbers 1 & 3 flashing at the same time. Did a Google search and found that the problem is either related to the motherboard or the power supply. I took a chance and brought this product hoping it was just my power supply that was going bad........Turns out it was! It looked and fit just like the OEM it was a breeze to switch out and connect took roughly 5 minutes if that. My machine booted up flawlessly! Shipping was fast too really wasn't expecting it as soon as I did.

It works great in my Dell desk top. The original power box stopped working, so bought the new one, very good price & easy to install.
