These bits are brittle.
The first bit burnt up immediately using cutting fluid and medium speed. The second snapped.

Good for knife handle pins
They walk a good bit before biting. Make sure you use a center punch that makes a good divit. So far they have cut through blades that are annealed. While they are for hardened steel I haven't desired to check that feature.

Solid Carbide Twist Bits Cut Smoothly and Accurately
I’ve been using carbide tipped blades and bits of various kinds for years. Carbide is often used as a tool ‘tip’ and brazed onto a (relatively) softer steel tool body. Carbide is quite a bit harder than most metals and other materials, so it can last much longer than even top steel alloys when used for drilling, cutting and tapping, for instance. Carbide tooling also has high resistance to abrasion and wear, and depending on its composition and structure, it’s usually resistant to the heat levels encountered in its intended machining operations. This set of Solid Carbide Drill Bits combines the good qualities of carbide into a type of tooling that is almost never ‘tipped’. These bits are capable of drilling at medium and in some cases high speed into a variety of metals, some of which are difficult to drill, like cast iron, some alloy steels, stainless steel, brass, copper and aluminum. They also did a good job for me in hardwoods, various plastics and even hard rubber. The first task I tried was drilling a series of ⅛” holes in a chrome plated, hardened steel antenna. It easily cut each hole through with no issues, leaving perfectly round holes without any tearing of the surface, and left no signs of wear on the bit. Drilling stainless steel was almost as easy, but I added a bit of cutting fluid. White oak drilled like butter, as did polycarbonate, the oak was for a project, and the plastic as an experiment. Carbide tooling, like these drill bits, has a lot of advantages. With its hardness comes a level of fragility: it does not bend, it fractures or breaks. It may not dull for a long time, but it is prone to micro fractures and chipping. Here the finer grain structure serves longevity well, as the inevitable edge damage is likely to have much smaller consequence. Also because of the material and its nature, it will need touching up or sharpening, sure, but I’ll have to use either diamond sharpening stones or wheels, or a ‘green’ carbide-sharpening wheel for the bench grinder, especially it it needs a major reshaping/resharpening. These solid carbide bits are a bit ‘stubby’ or short, ranging from just under 2” to 2 ⅜” long. They are intended for CNC machines, but with due care can work well in a drillpress. The advantage of using in a CNC machine is being able to set and maintain the correct speed and feed-rate; these must be determined in advance with either type of use. I’ve had a good experience with these bits so far.
