The Writer’s Map, An Atlas if Imaginary Lands is a wonderful treasure of inspiration for any illustrator or writer. This book explores the method of using imaginary maps to create the world of fiction that the author’s characters exist in. It’s full of fascinating creative processes and techniques to creating either imaginary maps and creative cartography or as method for writing a creating stories.

This really is an impressive book and such content for the price. Bought this for my daughter for her degree in English and creative writing. Full of wonderful illustrated maps from the simple sketch, to the elaborate with fine detail. Truly a world of maps to fuel the imagination.

Lovely book and an original idea, perfect for your fantasty book loving friends or family, presentation is beautiful. More a book to dip in and out of and flick through than a full read.

Fascinating book that weaves real and historic maps with imaginary ones and is filled with comments from authors and how real maps from the Mappa Mundi onwards gave them inspiration for their imaginary maps and stories. I enjoyed reading this and see the many images of real and imaginary maps.

This is a beautiful book. I've always loved maps and imaginary ones are so much better than the OS map 112 covering Scunthorpe. Like a lot of people I was hooked as a child with the 100 acre wood and middle earth, both of which are in this volume along with many others I have not seen. I have to say I think the Fantasy Genre is a bit underrepresented given the fact that every house brick sized epic of the past 30 years has had it's map at the beginning but overall it is a lovely book for dipping in and out of when the moment presents. Just don't use any of them for navigational purposes.

I ordered the book at night and it arrived the morning after which is excellent. The delivery driver was lovely and the package was in great condition. I was slightly disappointed when I opened it however to discover the dust cover was battered on every corner. The book is fine but it was for a gift so I think it made it look a bit second hand for £25. I couldn't return it in time so gave it to my husband anyway and he loves the book it's just a shame about the cover.

Solid book, the map work is lovely and it is very interesting reading about how popular authors arranged their book starting with a book. A different aspect to writing a book.
