overlooked jewel
This was a very good album that remains sadly neglected by the music listening world. Madder Rose had that addictive guitar-pop vibe, a female singer with a gorgeous voice, songs with passion and melody. And for some weird reason they never clicked with the masses. They had major label support so I don't know where things went wrong, but this album was full of good to great songs. And some, like the shimmering "Panic On" should have been monster hits, at least on college radio. If you enjoyed 80s and 90s alternative music, especially melodic songs with a guitar edge to them, check out this fine album.

The Place to Start for all your Madder Rose Needs
From start to finish, a wonderful melange of rock and pop. I have all their stuff and have seen them live many times as they are from my area. Billy Cotè and Mary Lorson are a dynamic songwriting team and their songs will stay with you long after the music ends. The title track alone is worth the price of admission but there are many sparkling moments to hang your hat on here. Get this and then move on to Tragic Magic. You won't be disappointed.

Panic On
It is sad that more people won't get the chance to hear this recording. Mary Lorson is awesome.

the most overlooked indie album/band ever?
I can't believe that as I look here there's been one review since 1994 and the sales rank is 214,000. It's probably not even available anymore. Talk about forgotten! This was an underground classic of it's time. Light, airy, enjoyable. Great background music, with just enough pep to step it up from their more popular contemporaries The Sundays and Mazzy Star.
