Based on the support I experienced, I'm tempted to rate this much, much lower. But let's be fair and focus (pun intended) on the equipment itself, which is surprisingly good. As others have pointed out, this is an excellent value scope. If you've been fortunate enough to use commercial equipment costing 3-5x more, you'll notice the differences (for example, slightly "gritty feeling" focus control). Otherwise I think you'll be pleased & surprised. The base is VERY solid and despite the unhelpful instructions, you should be able to figure out how everything goes together. I was pleasantly surprised to see the design of the beam clamps, which are NOT the cheapo screw-bearing-directly-on-shaft stuff. The 54-LED illuminator is fine for most work but you may wish to upgrade if very bright light is critical to your work. The 3MP camera is OK, and contrary to some others I found the software to be quite helpful and easy to use. I ordered the eye guards separately and discovered the eyepieces of the scope came with them. I'll keep the extras because it isn't worth it to return them. The same was true of the scope cover, but in this case the one I ordered separately was much superior to the one included with the scope. Lastly, a word about support. Check your parts immediately upon receipt. My order was missing 2 lens (kind of important!) and it took 4 phone calls & 3 weeks to get the parts. The people who answered the phone were basically pretty rude & they point-blank refused to expedite the missing parts unless I was willing to pay the shipping (you know, all the way from CA to WA). As I said at the beginning, it's a good value product but the company needs to pay more attention to who they let answer the phone.

The item arrived in good condition and has worked great ever since. We have installed it in the lab and plan to use it for quick analysis of parts/samples in our R&D work. Thanks for selling such a good product at such an affordable price. The camera comes with an installation CD and the software application (ToupView) is really easy to install and to use right away. The microscope and camera are fully portable, which makes it nice to carry the unit to the experimental bench and analyze samples in-line with the process. Thanks again.

Solid mechanics, good optics, reasonable camera. Cumbersome software with very basic measurement functions. Can not add any functionality including remote connection as there is no technical support from the camera software developer.
