This cup was terrible. The decal on it was bumpy and peeling off right out of the box. I could have made a better quality one myself.

Very poor quality. It's a sticker or something similar that is applied to the ceramic mug. Then there's a clear film on top of that. Parts of the clear film were already peeling straight out of the box and the design has bubbles near the G and Q that you can see in the pictures. Overall 2/5. It's flawed, but the color change works a little.

This mug does work as intended and the thermochromic color-changing effect is pretty fun. When you add a hot drink, the design changes and reveals the colors, which makes it an interesting mug to use and a fun conversation piece. The size is good for a standard cup of coffee or tea, and it’s easy to hold. The heat-sensitive feature works consistently and reacts quickly once a hot liquid is poured in. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the overall design looks a little cheap up close. The effect is cool, but the graphics themselves could look a bit more polished. Even so, it still works as expected and makes a fun novelty mug or gift.

I purchased this thermochromic Stranger themed mug for my daughter, knowing she would absolutely love it. Unfortunately, the excitement ended the moment I opened the box. The mug had a long scratch down the side and the clear coating was already peeling. My heart sank.....what a letdown for something that cost nearly $20. The quality issues didn’t stop there. As my daughter used it, the coating continued to peel. The design itself looks nothing like the pictures advertised. • The transition from black to tan is made up of messy dots and looks poorly done. • The lettering is completely different. The mug I received has a dripping style font that wasn’t shown online. • The tan background is covered in floral patterns, including bouquets of roses, which is nowhere in the product photos. • Even the bottom of the mug is unfinished and rough. I have to set it on a paper towel because I’m afraid it will scratch my countertops. The only positive is that the lights do change color with hot liquid but with the coating already peeling, I’m not confident that feature will last. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. For the price, this mug should have been far better quality. I struggled to give it even one star. If zero stars were an option, that’s what it would have received.

I ordered this for a Stranger Things fan in my family. But, I don’t recommend this mug, unfortunately. It has several issues. As soon as I picked it up, the first thing that I noticed is that it was very lightweight. It just doesn’t have the weighty, solid feel that you associate with a hot beverage mug. All around the exterior of the mug, the finish is rough. There are many rough spots and bumps that look and feel kind of like smudged paint. Some of it began flaking off when first handled. The color changing does work, but hot water from my faucet, wasn’t enough to activate the change unless I ran the exterior of the mug directly underneath the hot water tap. If I fill the mug with boiling hot water, the lights change color. So depending on the temperature of the beverage, you may or may not get the color changing effect. Overall, the build quality and materials issues make this something I don’t recommend buying, and I have mixed feelings about even using.

The actual laminate/thermochromic coating just does not match the pictures. In a general sense, the design matches; in a detailed sense, it's different - the wallpaper in the background looks different and the font lettering is very different. The coating used is not the coating described. The coating and its application do not look as good as described, either. It's either cheaper materials or a less effective application - I can't say which - but it just looks sloppy by comparison. The ceramic itself is great - the exact kind of sturdy, standard, glossy ceramic I'd expect in a mug. No issue there. It works, of course, as a mug. Color change takes ~25 seconds with boiling water. I boiled water in my electric kettle to demonstrate the change; the speed was not adjusted. Several of the "bulbs" that start out grey and then take on color do not fully transform - bits remain gray. I'm still using it for my morning coffee and handwashing after. I would avoid using the dishwasher due to the thermochromic application - dishwashers can be too rough on them. If the mug I received matched the description as it looks, I'd say $20 is a fair price for a niche fandom item that has both a function and a fun attribute. As-is, though, it feels underpriced - underwhelming for the value.

This playful mug looks good even empty or with the dreaded cold coffee in it. But it really comes to life when hot water runs into it. The mug lights up with colorful thermochromic light strings. The lights have a subtle Christmas theme but will look good and fun year round. The mug itself is made of ceramic and I notice no chip or flaw. Time will have to tell how long the heat sensing feature lasts. Nice little novelty gift.

I was really excited about this heat sensitive mug, but unfortunately it has been a huge letdown. The color changing feature barely works and most of the time doesn’t change at all when hot liquid is added. That was the main reason I bought it, so that alone was disappointing. If it does change it turns red and lights turn green. Not at all what pictures say. On top of that, the quality is terrible. The outer coating is already peeling, and there are visible scratches and bubbles in the finish. It looks cheaply made and poorly sealed. For something that’s supposed to be a fun, unique mug, the craftsmanship just isn’t there. Definitely not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend this unless major improvements are made to the quality and color changing feature.
