Nice container but defective
I do love this container, I actually bought two. However the second one that I received did not close correctly. The hook closure did not match up, it was off center. I requested a replacement but was told they were out of stock. Company was nice enough to offer me a full refund. Great company!

decent value but not even close to 40lbs capacity
Nice container and works well to seal the food and keep humidity and pests out of it, but I just have to point out that there's no way it can hold 40 pounds of dog kibble. It just BARELY held a 28-pound bag of Taste of the Wild puppy kibble, filled completely to the top (no space for the measuring scoop) and I wouldn't consider that to be an especially "light and airy" kibble. It's pretty average. I would more likely believe that this container would probably hold 40 pounds of sugar or rice, wheat or other grain, or maybe even meal/flour, because those pack more densely than pet food. But that's not how the container is being advertised (even though it would probably work perfectly well and there's no reason I can think of that it would be inadvisable to use it for such, if you're so inclined). That issue aside, the paint also tends to rub off the bottom into a chalky blue dust and it's possible that it may leave marks on some flooring that might take some effort to remove. I am crossing my fingers that it's actually stainless steel and won't rust where the metal is exposed. Still, it was notably cheaper than most other large metal pet food canisters, so I'd consider it to be a fairly good value.

Not a true 40lb capacity storage bin
Cool looking can .. top notch lock a bit flimsy..don't attempt to put 40 gallons worth of dog food in it. I don't know who checked but it takes a bit over 20lbs of dog food

Not airtight
Not airtight. Wasted a brand new bag of food as ants found their way in within a few weeks. This thing sucks. Also arrived with lots of soot inside and needed to be thoroughly cleaned. The sheet metal lid is too thin and poorly designed as well.

Tight seal
It is like a giant waterbottle.lol Well made, tight molded lid, secured closed nothing getting in and nothing getting out. I would recommend it to people for dog food or really any dry goods.
