You will lose space since you cant put have it flush to to the wall
"l've given this a 2-star rating. The quality is alright, but there's a problem with the bench: you cannot place it flush against the wall with the cushions on. It will not open all the way. You have to keep it about 2 inches off the wall so it can open properly." Also bottom panel is thin cardboard so really cant put anything at the bottom with out it warping also one of my emd caps are missing and the inside side panel was fabricated incorrectly so bottom panel would not go in
