great winch
I river fish both night and day. Since i am getting older 20 or 30 foot of rope on 12 lb anchor gets old fast when your by yourself an move spots many times. Wanted something that would without fail pull the anchor even with strong current if need be. this winch pulls my 16 ft boat back over anchor. pulls anchor out of mud ect. great. (in really bad areas i hold boat with troll motor so anchor doesn't drift and snag. even in shallow water sunfishing with grand kids it is great. no one needs to be close to a anchor or rope.. footprint and connected pulley for anchor storage make it great for my aluminum bass style boat beside my ipilot troll motor. plenty of pull power well made. received product less than 2 days after order so i had full spring and summer use. thanks I used winch for summer without a problem. No matter how deep or how fast the current was the anchor winch performed perfectly.

Product works well for me, husband says it is a bit slow
Put on the pontoon as soon as it arrived and used it over the weekend just to see how it worked. Since the driver can't see the unit from the helm, we placed the switch on the unit so that a passenger needs to put in the water and take out. Directions should show unit mounted closer to edge because when the anchor goes down, it hits the side of the boat. Goes down well, but coming up gets sluggish. It still beats the tangled up rope and pulling the anchor up by hand.

A bit banged up
I haven't had the opportunity to actually use it yet since the boat rebuild is still in progress. However, I was not impressed when I opened the box. The powder coating was all chipped up- and the main cover was scuffed. The shackle that mounts the pulley was too wide so the e-clip would not install on the pivot shaft. I had to pound the ears together to close the gap. I'll spray paint it, and not worry about it too much. But if you got a brand new shiny boat, you might want to buy it in person so you can look it over first.*Update*So I have now used this for 1-1/2 seasons and it is at least still working... That being said I had to pull the front roller off and give it a good cleaning because mud had built up on the pin and apparently that was just to much for the motor to over come. It seems pretty weak for what it is doing. A couple times I have had to manually yank the anchor loose from the bottom because this thing just doesn't have any balls. On occasion it would just stop mid retrieve, so I would have to give it a minute to cool down and it would start back up.Plus its pretty slow with a 15 lb anchor at 30 ft deep it seems to take about a minute for a full retrieve. They claim 80 ft per minute. Maybe without any load on the rope, but attach an anchor, and there is no way this thing is pulling it in at 80 ft per minute.Overall I'm glad I have it, but it could be better in several areas. A fast down option would be great, and a motor with a bit more speed and power would be a welcomed upgrade.

Replacement for 10 year old model
Bought this as a replacement for my 10 year old model that the motor was starting to get weak on (we are very avoid boaters in the summer and I was more than pleased with the life that I got out of my first Powerwinch.) - Too much trouble take the old base off so I reused the old frame, drilled new mounting holes (the older models have a different motor mount bolt hole pattern, if you work with electric motors you will understand exactly what I mean) Still installed and boating within 90 minutes!

The installation instructions were bad also not labeling what screws go where
This was shipped broken and missing some parts. The installation instructions were bad also not labeling what screws go where. Lucky I was replacing an old one so I had extra parts to use.

The perfect HAND saver
This is what every pontoon boat owner needs. It really saves the hands trying to pull up an anchor. The only disadvantage is the mounting in the center of the front deck, it is right in the door way and also mounting a trolling motor in same location the door needs to be moved over.
