A very good book
This book kept me wanting to read more & couldn't put it down. The plight of the wild horses has always interested me & I have signed petitions for the roundups of the wild horses to be stopped. Joe suggests in this book that lawyers come to the rescue to have them stopped & it seems that this is the only way to get it accomplished. Taking the horses from their homeland disrupts their families & even causes death of the foals & adults. The bureau of land management (BLM) only caters to the ranchers wanting all the land for their cattle & sheep which eat the grass to nothing, leaving dust & dirt. The government made the law to protect the wild horses & they are breaking their own law.Something has to be done about it which Joe Camp is telling the reader. I plan to read more of his books, this one was very well written.

Gifted writer and horseman with a heart
Thank you Joe for this wonderful book. I just received it in the mail yesterday and I already love it. I just wish it was 1,000 pages so I could read it longer. After reading The Soul of A Horse I have wondered why I never ask the questions Joe did. In the 70'3 and 80's when I showed horses no one ever thought of these questions that Joe brings to light. Now I am blessed with 2 horses after a 29 year period of no horses and this book is at just the right time. His books make you ask questions and I am so thankful he cared enough to get the answers. There is a special shelf in my Library just for Joe's books. I hope there is another one in the works soon.

Must Read for All Americans
Joe Camp is a master story teller and shares his knowledge of horses in a format that is always page turning and educational at the same time. He has thoroughly researched the wild horse dilemma as it relates to the gross mismanagement by the BLM. Everyone in this country should read this book so they are made aware of the atrocities that are occurring in this government agency. Only through educated citizens might we stand united against this corruption that is so blatantly occuring right under our noses. Joe Camp's philosophy on how horses should live with humans and be trained naturally by establishing relationship and trust first is a must read by all horse owners. This book and it's predecessor "Soul of a Horse" are must haves in your library. In fact, I would recommend ALL of Joe Camp's books. They are the bible for all horse lovers/horse owners and show us how to provide the healthiest and happiest of lives for these magnificent animals in our care.

A grand slam!
Mr. Camp you outdid yourself! People do need to keep hearing how our government is taking the land from the horses and is giving it away lock stock and barrel. There is no oversight.I wonder why I have to pay TWICE for my cow. I pay once within my taxes and then when I go to the store, I pay yet again. And then shall we talk about unscrupulous dirty double dealers who put horse meat in beef cause it's cheaper? Never mind I am one million percent against the consumption of horse.Horses are honest. They can tell in a split second if you are trustworthy or if they need to leave. Ask Cloud up in the Pryors. He came over to see me 4 years ago. Ah a new friend--he was thinking. Funny I as thinking the same thing! So what I couldn't touch. You let the horse touch your spirit and you will never be the same. Watch the eyes. One moment you will be chastened to keep your distance and as soon as you step back that same eye softens.I abhor what our government does. They keep yakking about making humane policy but the 40 some years since the 1971 law went into effect--they have yet to have written humane policy. Which leaves little babies with non hardened feet open to being run to death. Or hot shotted because the COR orders it because the horse isn't moving fast enough.I love how this man who didn't have a horse suddenly found himself surrounded by them! The horses are teaching him and he's telling us in human what the message is. All we have to do is open our ears to hear.

Another wonderful read from Joe Camp!
Another wonderful book that tugs at you're heart yet has you laughing and smiling all at the same time. If it was not for Joe, and the fact that I happened to come upon his first book "The Soul of the Horse", my first horses might have been stalled, but luckily I felt that was not right and read his book, so they have lived 6 wonderful years in a lovely pasture, free, with a run in that they rarely use, and no shoes!! I have read all his books, and this one is again, awesome!! I love you Joe and owe my all my horse skills and learning to you!

Learn and Enjoy
Joe Camp doesn't disappoint... In Born Wild - The Soul of a Horse the author supplies his usual blend of touching horse account with up-to-date and well researched "best" practices for horse owners. This time we follow the birth of a new foal born to a wild horse Camp and his wife adopted from the BLM wild horse program. Also of interest are facts and figures about the efficacy of BLM's program. As usual, once the reader finishes one of Joe Camp's books, he/she anxiously awaits the release of another.

Born Wild is a culmination of Joe Camp's writing about horses, which began with The Soul of a Horse. Five Stars!
I believe Joe Camp's body of work, starting with 'Soul', has been leading to this book. The country needs a wake-up call about what is happening to wild horses, and Born Wild is it. Camp's engaging writing style, not just about horses in general but about a specific herd, specific horses he brought into his life, is lovely. I train horses at Liberty; I've recommended 'Soul' to my students, and will follow that with asking them to read Born Wild. It is bound to create and enhance empathy and congruence with horses. I believe Born Wild will prove to be another 'Black Beauty', which in that time, awakened people to the needs of horses and swept the country/world. We need that awakening again; thank you, Joe Camp, for doing that.

As I said before it is like having Joe in your front room just talking about ...
More of the same as the first book. Very personal - I felt all the emotions that Joe was going through via his writing. As I said before it is like having Joe in your front room just talking about the events as they took place.

Every person who spends time with horses should read this book
This is an extraordinary book. Every horse will be ever grateful to Joe for writing it. Buy it for your daughters, sons, friends, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, vets, farriers, neighbours, hay dealers, feed merchants, the local breeders, the people who muck out at their stables, the people who rent trailers, the people who have horse rescue centers. Buy paper copies and leave them accidently on purpose at the racetracks, at the show jumping events, horse auctions and at clinics you attend. Buy the kindle version for everyone you know who likes horses. And those that would if they had the chance. And maybe include those that don't know anything about horses much at all but you know like stories. Joe Camp has written a book that will change the way you think about horses forever. Kathleen Camp has photographed her husband Joe and their horses and her work invites us to share a rare, intimate narrative. Millions of horses around the world desperately need us to change and this important book can make that happen.

Fascinating!
I'm using this book for my EPQ project and have even been in touch with Joe. The book is brilliant, well written and very informative and Joe was more than happy to answer any of my questions, would Feinstein recommend it for anyone who wants to know more about horses and give their animals a far better life than being stuck in a stable!
