This thing is awesome and I love it! ...but not without shortcomings
I absolutely love this thing and use it all the time! It makes night-time browsing, watching, or reading SO much easier! I wouldn't recommend it for something that requires a lot of interaction, unless you'll be pairing it with some bluetooth device, as reaching up from bed will quickly tire your arms. The contraption does have some shortcomings, but for the most part they're fundamental issues of engineering something like this. I think the one thing that isn't, is the fact that they use a plastic screw-handle at the base, that according to many reviews is far too easily breakable, and I believe that (though I have not yet broken mine). If you take care not to over-tighten this part, I believe it can live on for a reasonable amount of time, but this is certainly the weakest aspect of the device. I imagine it was done to help keep the price at a reasonable level, especially considering how much metal must already be in it. But personally I'd pay the few bucks more for a sturdier, metal clasp at the base. Another common gripe about this device is that it will constantly slip downward from what you set it to. It's certainly easy to configure it in a way that this happens; that's not a fault of the device, but of the general problem of what you're trying to get it do (I imagine a $200+ device might solve it, but nothing this straight-forward of a solution). If you think of it like an engineer (or simply heed the advice of the accompanying paper), you'll twist it into a bit of an S shape to improve the stability of the form, or a spiral if you've the space. Yes, it'll still slip slightly at first, and yes that uses up some of the available reach, but it's a simple problem of gravity vs torque, and there's no way around the necessity. Yet another common review complaint is that the neck itself may break. Presumably yes, if you continually twist in a single direction, or constantly twist and untwist it, it will break down fairly quickly - after all, it's just a bundle of twisty metal threads, yes? For my part, I try to ensure as long a lifespan as possible by minimizing how often I reform the neck, leaving it in the shape it's in when I remove it so that I don't have to twist it back again the next time; and by first untwisting/bending it back to fully straight before reforming to a new shape. I imagine this is harder to avoid if you take it traveling a lot, however. With all these potential shortcomings, why is this still a five-star review? Because it just does such a great job of what it's made for! It's incredibly satisfying to use, and does exactly what I needed it for! And yes, perhaps it may break after half a year or something. Perhaps even only a quarter-year if I'm as unlucky as some of the other reviewers (though I do anticipate that the techniques above will save me from it being that soon, at least!). But so what? At this price?! I'd gladly consider a $5-10/mo "rental fee" for such a convenient (and now quite indispensable) device, so anything I get beyond a few months is bonus as far as I'm concerned. So if it breaks I'll just buy another one (in fact I may buy a spare in advance just in case). So now you know: yes, the bad reviews are for the most part correct. AND all the good reviews too. It's the best tool for the job (AFAIC), but it might possibly break. So what? It's cheap. And still totally worth it. That's my 2 cents!

Be gentle & smart... and it should last!
So the funny thing is, I found one of these on the side of a road while riding my bike one day. I decided to take it home, wash it up real good and it seemed to work well! I set it up on the shelf on my bedside table and pointed it towards my side of my bed, but it required too much moving around and eventually it broke at the small of the neck... Same thing that happened to one of the other reviewers here, who included several helpful photos of not only where it broke, but how he attempted to fix it! :) From my personal experience, I quickly learned of its limitations. This well-thought out phone/iPad holder has two different size (circumferences) of metal gooseneck hoses attached to each other. The lower portion is covered with a durable rubber-like cloth and is tougher to bend. You could consider it to be the “stabilizing extender” of the unit. The upper portion has a thinner circumference covered in a soft silicon-like rubber for ease of shaping. Beware that it CAN break if you mishandle it. Otherwise, it can be quite useful and durable IF YOU: 1. Set it up to have MINIMAL movement. The more you bump or move it, the more likely it will break sooner than you’d like it to. DO NOT CARELESSLY PUSH IT to the side. 2. If you wish to read in bed, attach the base clip directly above your head on the headboard (or shelf)...not at the side where you might end up kinking your neck and have to always move it when you get in and out of bed. 3. Use two hands to bend the thick, lower part of the gooseneck (cloth covered portion), making sure one hand always stabilizes it above the base clip, and use your other hand to bend it where you want it. 4. Avoid bending the top section (the “shaper “ or rubber covered portion of the gooseneck) especially at the joint, the most vulnerable area. If you must move the device out of the way, carefully handle it similarly to the lower portion, as mentioned above in #3. 5. Treat the item gently and with care, always use intention, including how you put in or take out your tablet (the plastic tension holder). Again, try not to BUMP it or push it sideways! 6. Remember “It’s All About That B.A.S.S.” = BALANCING ACT SWEET SPOT :))) A tablet is obviously heavier than most phones. I wouldn’t recommend a tablet larger than 9.7-10” unless you have it in one position facing upwards. To find that BASS, carefully unwind and set the stabilizing extender portion of the gooseneck at a slight upward angle, then shape the upper rubber covered portion into place. Test the position. If it starts to fall from the weight, carefully re-adjust the LOWER portion first (with two hands!) pointing upwards a little more, then re-adjust the upper rubber portion. Honestly, if you can find a better gooseneck than this one that can hold a small tablet above your head without falling, good for you! Forget those stupid clip bases, as they always seem to break or just don’t have the holding power. Forget those extra long goosenecks, unless you plan to only use it for your phone. One suggestion I’d have for the designers of this device, is to offer a longer version...lengthen the stabilizing extender of the gooseneck and deepened the clip to support the weight. This way the user can position it further away from our faces while reading in bed! Also, expect your arms to get tired if you’re typing a long review — like mine are feeling right now! PS... I’ve also purchased an elbow holder that I use for both my iPhone and my 9.7” iPad. I used it to reference photos or my digital artwork as I paint on canvas.. and I intend to use it for digital iPhone recording. I promise to leave a review for that one as well... If you’d like to be alerted when I post my reviews, simply follow my profile! :))) Oh, and don’t be surprised... I have a ton of cool items yet to review! Thumbs up if this post helped you 🤙

A good product with one major flaw
This is the third gooseneck tablet holder that I have purchased. The same brand each time. They are great as long as they hold up but in my experience there is one major flaw. The joint between the stiff part of the mast and the more flexible portion does not seem to hold up well. In my experience they last about a year before that Junction fails. Even when I try to avoid twisting at that point, it still seems to give out. It would be nice if they could improve that junction point. Still, it is very handy and worthwhile

A good product but does not appear that it will last
I searched the reviews of many table holders before deciding on the Lamicall tablet stand. I was looking for one to attach to the headboard and hold my iPad Air for reading and watching movies in bed. This is a simple and inexpensive solution that seems well made and works well for my purposes. It might not work with iPads or cell phones in thicker protective cases without first removing them from the case. It works however, with the thinner case I use to protect my iPad. Review update: I have reduced my rating because it appears that the tablet holder is going to break at the joint between the two sections of the gooseneck. The connector that attaches the thinner portion of the gooseneck to the thicker section is plastic. It has cracked and is getting more loose with each use. It looks like the two sections will soon separate. This is a good product that works well except for the plastic connector between the thick and thin sections of the gooseneck. An upgrade in that one part to something more durable would change my rating back to 5 stars. Second follow up review: The plastic fitting that connects the two section of the flexible arm failed after about 11 months of use. The failure would have happened much sooner if I had not used a clamp to hold the part together after the plastic fitting began cracking. As i said before, the product fit my needs and is reasonably priced. But I would be willing to pay more for an upgrade to the plastic fitting that would allow the product to last longer. PROBLEM RESOLVED I was contacted by the manufacturer LamicallDirect who refunded the cost of the original product and replaced it at no cost with a new flexible arm tablet mount. The flexible arm on the new product does not have the plastic fitting that failed in the previous model. It appears to be stronger and should not have the problem with failure. The clamp that mounts the stand and the clamp that holds the tablet have some slight improvements that improve the overall performance of the product. The tablet mount has a wider channel that allows more room for a tablet with a cover which is a nice improvement. I appreciate the concern of the company that appears concerned about customer satisfaction and delivering a quality product. I have revised my overall rating accordingly.

Good stand … unfortunate fatigue failure
The tablet stand served the function up, not only holding my small iPhone 13 mini, but also holding my iPad. I really appreciated that it could hold both. I found that the clamp was wide enough to fit many surfaces so that I could use it while sitting at the table or I could use it in the bed or I could use it in a chair. That flexibility was much appreciated. I found the metal rod to be stiff enough so that the vibration in the movement was not too much. It allowed me to put it in different positions successfully. I use this about once a week for the last six months and am fairly gentle with my equipment. Unfortunately, the metal flexible rod that connects to the phone and tablet attachment has broken. This seems to be a fatigue failure to me. Shifting the position of the phone back-and-forth has worn out the metal and caused it to break. I am confident that my shifting the physician on the phone was not very frequent. So this is a problem. The unit is no longer something that I can use. I have taken a look to see if there is any anyway in which I can repair this. I have not been able to come up with a successful solution. I have now reached out to the company in hope that a satisfactory answer and solution can be found. I do not wish to throw away something after only six months.

Lamicall - Gooseneck Tablet Holder - Ipad Pro 10.5
I for the longest time i used the Lamicall Ipad holder, The one thats an adjustable stand and you just set it on there. I love the thing and had used it for many many months, anyways.. i was scrolling through the amazon deals and saw this item, Lamicall - Gooseneck Tablet Holder and was like holy crap thats awesome, but in the back of my mind i thought there is no way that can hold up my iPad, let alone my iPad with the case. Looked through the reviews and honestly it has the best rating for any item just like that. - FITS IPAD PRO 10.5 WITH CASE ON - i tested this myself -Pros- -Strong lower wire for holding up your tablet -Weaker but more malleable aluminum top wire -Pull strings on back of holder for easy removal of tablet -Lip inside holder where you set the tablet keeps it from moving looks like a "U" upside-down -Overall length is quite long for stretching it where you want to -Quality is fantastic - materials feel not cheap - Clip at the bottom has padding for extra grip The thing people complained about the most was obviously the holder breaking in 1 of 3 places, At The Base, Base of where the lower and upper wires meet or right at pivotal ball meets the white tablet holder part. -Cons- -Very prone to breaking if not careful when readjusting wires, Use both hands and keep on steady surface with clip. -A little hard to bend it to the angle you want - causing people to manhandle it and break it -Again, Very prone to breaking - just think of a thick metal rod you can bend, it'll only be able to bend back and forth so many times Overall, I love this thing, i just know im going to be very careful so i can have it last for along time. I totally recommend it 9.5/10

How did I live without this handy gadget?!?!?!? But beware of defect...
I bought this tablet holder late last year in anticipation of spinal fusion surgery, but didn't take it out of the box until a few months ago. A huge regret. This is one of those gadgets you don't know you can't live without until you start using it! Set-up is easy, lthough, it can be a bit tricky. I attach mine to my bed frame. You have to hold the base in place with one hand while you screw the round piece into place with the other, trying to keep the arm from falling over in the process. You get used to it. Given the fact that the base is round it is not surprising that stability could be better. If I tighten the round piece as far as it will go the arm will stay in place without damaging the surface of my bed frame. But as soon as I start manipulating the positioning of my cell phone, the round piece loosens and the arm falls to either side. The product is so useful, however, that this is a fairly minor inconvenience. I will say that the arm itself is extremely stiff. I'm sure this is necessary for holding heavier tablets. However, I have joint issues. Especially in my hands. It causes pain and weakness, so I did have trouble manipulating the arm. I would definitely give this product 5 stars for usefulness! 1) I spend a lot of time in bed due to chronic health issues. I swear my cell phone calls to me. Maybe it's the ADHD, but I can't seem to watch tv without ending up "multi-tasking" on my phone. My pinky fingers will go numb from having the phone rest on them at an unnatural angle for long periods of time. This resolved once I started keeping my phone in the holder while in bed. As the product info explains, the holder is meant to be used for watching videos, etc. So typing will cause the arm to bob. I just lightly hold it in place with one hand. Not a big deal for occasional typing and much easier on my joints! 2) MY EYES!!!! I set my holder up purposely so that my phone is at a healthy distance for my vision. Gadget screen use is a major cause of eye strain. I noticed a decrease in headaches and blurry vision from eye fatigue after using the holder vs holding my phone in my hand! 3) There are times I have to copy info from my cell phone to my laptop. Before the holder I would have to prop my phone up on my bed and then have to keep moving my head from side to side trying to type the info before I forgot it. This can be a strain on the neck for those with cervical instability. The holder allows me to suspend my phone flush up against my laptop screen, which is incredibly convenient. I seriously can't believe I took so long to purchase one of these things! Sturdiness is where this product loses major points. It is sturdy...until it is not. As you can see in the pictures, there is a weak point where the tablet holder meets the arm. One day I went to adust the arm position and my phone went limp. I was able to roll the plastic covering back to expose the metal underneath. It almost looks like someone took some wire cutters to it. If you read through other reviews you will see that this is a fairly common issue with this product. If you click on the link for the seller there is warranty info. You have 18 months to get a replacement or refund for quality issues. I emailed Lamicall today, so hopefully I will have a replacement fairly soon. My pinkies are already going numb again. I miss my holder!!!!

Exactly what I wanted!
I wanted a holder for watching my tablet in bed and this works great. I will note that the clamp keeps sliding forward due to my rounded headboard (see picture) but that's no fault of the product-- it's meant to clamp on a flat surface. It still very much works. It holds my Acer One 10" tablet with no problem. The arm is stiff so it's a bit of a pain to manouver it but it's important that it is because once you find the angle you want, it stays in place. It was super easy to install and I don't find it "wobbles" much when I tap the screen.

Worth it; multipurpose!
Got this tablet holder for my kindle, works perfectly. It also hold my phone, iPad, and Nintendo switch perfectly! You can easily adjust the angle, and whether your device is on landscape, or portrait mode! So happy with this purchase.

High quality
The only thing to be sure of that the clamp fits the width of the table or desk. The space I had in mind to use this, it was too wide and the clamp didn’t fit. Aside from that, it a superior quality.

Amazing, must have for tablet or phone users
I previously owned a similar product, it was weak and unstable. After switching from a iPad mini to iPad Pro, I decided to purchase a more robust support. I was looking for something strong and stable. I researched and compared a lot of models and end up with this one. The high price was a concern initially, but I can say now that it totally worth it. This thing is built to last, much better investment than a cheap 20$ support that you'll replace a few times and the risk of damaging your device. Highly recommended.
