Lanikai4-String Ukulele, Natural, Tenor (ACST)

The item I received actually had a Gloss finish, and also cost less when I bought mine. I think this was the difference between the 2017 model and 2018 model (?), so this review is on the 2017 model. I don't think there is any difference except for the finish. Also remember that each instrument will probably not look like the picture because 1) each wood set will have different patterns and grains, and 2) it looks like the picture is still showing a gloss finish instrument. Mine came with a nice hard foam case, Lanikai UC-T or UC2-T, somewhere around $40 street price. So as for the uke I received, I couldn't be more pleased. Finish was excellent, no rough spots, no apparent thin finish areas. Action was great for me out of the box. Fret ends are nice and smooth, no buzzes, Grover tuners work like you would expect Grover tuners to work (smoothly). Intonation seems good to my untrained ear. All around excellent fit and finish. As for the sound, well that's pretty subjective Isn't it? Being a tenor, sound is a little deeper than what you might think a uke sounds like, but you are definitely playing a ukulele. Nice sustain and projection, and to me, it sounds great.

Wow. This is perhaps the best instrument I've every played, period. And I own some nice Martin and Gibson guitars... not to mention two other cheaper but decent ukuleles. It plays great, and sounds great at the same time. Looks are good too - I've never been into glossy finish so much, but it really looks quite good actually.

Spectacular! Beautiful wood grain. My biggest fear was the setup but I see now it is professional grade. Definitely recommend seller and will buy again from GearTree
